The location was great, right at the foot of the Acropolis, but the hotel was far from memorable.

The rooms were clean and basic with stiff beds and the front desk service was average at best - when we arrived, they had lost our reservation so we had to go through some inconvenience to get rooms for the six of us.

For the price, I'd look for something else - I wouldn't stay here again.

We are a family of 4, two parents and two teenagers. We do not travel with expectations of 5 star hotels, we just want a basic roof over our head that is clean. We spent 4 nights at the Adams. Our room was two bedrooms with a bath, two single beds, and one double. We were pleasantly surprised that we had a seperate bedroom from our teenagers. Our bathroom was older, but clean. We received clean towels on a daily basis. Our room was clean upon arrival, with the exception of the floors/carpets, I agree that they could have been cleaner. If you walked in bare feet or sock feet, you would have black feet! The free breakfast was adequate, toast, cheese, tea, coffee, juice. The gentleman serving was more than friendly. I borrwed their hairdryer on a daily basis with no problem. The street was quiet at night, no bars or other nighttime noise issues. We were satisfied overall with our experience at the Adams Hotel. In the Plaka, near the Acropolis, metro station, and many other sites within walking distance. Considering the great location, I think the price was o.k. We were satisifed with our time spent here.

After two weeks of wonderful travel, I still cannot exorcise my bad memories of the Adams hotel. Our room was below basic and filled with dust bunnies. Our bathroom smelled like raw sewage everytime we flushed the toilet. And the staff was not helpful at all.

If you can avoid this hotel, do.

Booked rooms through Venere.com after looking at Trip Advisor reviews. The rooms were as expected, simple but spacious and clean. The bathroom layout was funky, but that's to be expected with European hotels. We stayed one night before visiting the islands and one after. Both rooms were actually family rooms with 1 double bed in 1 room and 2 single beds in another (we booked double rooms). Be sure to ask for a room on the 3rd floor to get a spacious balcony with a view of the Parthenon.

During our first trip to Athens, my wife and I stayed at Adams hotel. We saw the pictures of the hotel with the nice room and Acropolis view. So imagine how surprised we were at the arrival to find out that this "hotel" is nothing like on the pictures.
We stayed there for five days and during this time we experienced the following:
-beds were not made half of the time
-garbage not thrown out every day
-no terrace with Acropolis view (although it was clearly advertised)
-no hair dryer or any of the utilities whatsoever
-no fridge
-no internet access
-beds dating from 70's and you sleep under a thin thin blanket
-we came once and the door to the rooms was not closed
-the door to the room itself is made of cardboard painted in white (I am not kidding)
-the so called bathroom... seriously, you have to see Adam's "bathroom" in order to understand that whatever you have at home is a luxury facility. The "bathroom" itself is 1 x 1.5 meters. It includes a shower, a toilet and a sink which is about as big as a magazine. And also, if you ever get bored during the shower time you can entertain yourself by counting flies on the walls.

I am European and have been traveling for a few years already. Since my student days I stay mostly in 2-3 star hotels, but never, I repeat never did I live in such a hole.
