“Quiet "Undiscovered" Gem of a Hotel in Plaka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

I had a very nice stay at the Hotel Adams in the Plaka in May 2012. It's an easy five-minute walk from the Akropoli Metro station (see directions below).
The place seems to be off the tourist track: it was almost empty and it is a little worn around the edges -- but my room was GREAT: No, 303. It was sort of a little penthouse on the top floor, with a huge balcony that had a view of the Acropolis. (By the way, the Plaka hotels that offer an "Acropolis view" look out not onto the Parthenon, but onto another building, the one that has the flag.) The bathroom was down a little hall and also assigned to the room next door, but that was empty, so I had it to myself. The staff were very nice.
Most of all, the room was wonderfully quiet!! No motorcycles or Plaka crowds of tourists. It is about a block away from the famous Hotel Phaedra, where I had stayed the week before but did not like. My room at the Hotel Adams was better, quieter and cheaper. It was 40 Euros (for a single) as opposed to 70 Euros at the Phaedra. The location is perfect, near the Plaka, Acropolis and beautiful park, but in its own quiet world on a residential street.
DIRECTIONS: When you leave the Akropoli Metro station, follow the street uphill past the first intersection and straight into the Plaka. Within about a block you'll see the Hotel Phaedra off to the right, on the corner, across from a beautiful old church. Turn right at the Hotel Phaedra and walk alongside the church. Keep going straight for a little more than a block. You'll see the Hotel Adams on the lefthand side of the street. It's about 5 minutes on foot.
Address is Thalou and Herefontos (spelled several ways) Street. Tel: (210) 32-25-381, (210) 32-46-582. Email: adams@otenet.gr.

Room Tip: Room 303 was great, with large terrace on the fop floor.

“Very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

This is a simple budget hotel. Location can not be beat and neither can the value. It is tucked away in a little square in between the Plaka pedestrian area and a transportation corridor on the other side. Very quiet at night and some rooms have nice view. Rooms are simple but clean, breakfast is also simple but sufficient. Athens has expensive hotels and I felt this was exactly what we expected and needed for the price we paid. Internet signal is a bit weak on the higher floors but in the lobby it is fine. Short walk to the Acropolis and the Museum. We even walked to the Lykavittos Hill to watch sun set behind the Acropolis. If all you need is a clean bed for the night and clean shower, this is perfect choice.

Room Tip: We had the corner room #206 with balconies and view to Acropolis. This was great

“Athens at its best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

Good room for the price and great location. I spent 4 nights in the best Plaka location walking distance from Acropolis and Sintagma, in a quiet room with balcony and plenty of space. WIFI available in the room and premises. It makes you feel you are in a Greek home. Very kind management, they even served breakfast at 5:30 a.m. the day we were leaving.
Only a little problem: hot water not available all the time.
I'll go back if in Athens. Thanks to Matt Barrett for his advice: www.greecetravel.com

Room Tip: I was on 1st floor. Higher floors may not have wifi.

“Basic hotel but god location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

We stayed at the adams for just 1 night , we were given a room on the second floor.
The room ,a double, had a small but functional bathroom and a small balcony, facing one of the sidestreets.

The hotel is basic but was in the perfect location for 24 hours in athens, right in betwen the acropolis, syntagma square and the plaka district. Also about 5 minutes from the Acropolis metro stop.

Walking tot he acropolis took maybe 7 minutes an the lose location allowed us to reach there well before the large groups, and thus avoid the queues, also near to the hotel there are loads of fod and drinks options , as well as shopping and souvenir shopping.

For the price i paid,80 euros, with very short notice i was satisfied with what we got, by no means was it a 'beautiful' hotel, but it was functional and clean, which is all we needed.

“Perfect location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2012

This hotel is right at the Plaka, where I would recommend staying when visiting Athens. The Plaka is full of restaurants and small shops.
The hotel is in walking distance from all the historical sites, the acropolis, the olimpic stadium, etc. It is also very close to a metro station, we took the metro from the airport and walked to the hotel with our luggage, no problem.
The hotel is old and a bit dated, but it was clean. The room was small, and so was the bathroom, but again, it was clean, so it was perfect just to sleep there, we spent the day outside anyway.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have bathrooms so be specific to ask for one that does if you want one.
