“A nice quiet hotel in a good neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Marble house is exactly what we were looking for for our few days in Athens. A very clean, quiet little hotel, at a very reasonable price. The attention at the reception desk was great, the owner gave us good tips and instructions. The location is excellent, not to far from city center but still in a good, quiet and peaceful area. The only downside was the small bathroon with no shower curtain...

We had a 13 hour layover in Athens and after a whirlwind tour we needed a place to lay our heads until we headed back to the airport at 03:30 am. Christos , of Marble House made our late arrival and early departure to the property so easy. Marble House was clean, safe and the outdoor garden like veranda area was lovely . We wished we could have been there during daylight to appreciate it even more.

My boyfriend and I expected a pretty decent hotel based on TripAdvisor's reviews and the photos. However, when we arrived in Athens for the last three nights after spending time on the islands we were incredibly disappointed with the hotel and the female hotel manager. Our room was horrible, with disgusting twin beds and old sheets. Our bathroom was nothing like the pictures as well. We looked back on the TripAdvisor page and on the hotel's website to make sure we were not overreacting. When we discussed our discontent with the female hotel owner, she yelled at us and said that only a couple of the hotel rooms were like the ones on the website, and then we should have been prepared for rooms that did not look like that. Even when we requested a different room, she would not grant it to us because she had already assigned us to that one. We scrambled to find a hotel for the next two nights because we did not want to leave Greece on such a negative note. However, the hotel woman made us pay 60 euros instead of the 45 we were supposed to because we decided to leave early. Paying that extra money was worth it because we no longer had to tolerate that horrible woman. The location is not even that great. There are significantly better deals in Athens, so I suggest that you keep looking instead of committing to MarbleHouse. It was a huge disappointment, and our only regret in our two week stay in Greece.

Room Tip: Do not pick the room with the "private bath room". Just share a bathroom in order to incr...

The stay at this hotel was a great one! The staff was excellent. Extremely helpful about anything. They made the stay even better. The hotel itself is very nice, comfortable, beautiful atmosphere and look and also very clean. The only thing is that its very hot because not all rooms have AC. Also although the bathrooms are shared they are comfortable. I would definitely sugest this place to anyone who wants to be walking distance from all major touristic sites. The price is perfect for what we get. I enjoyed my stay and the hotel very much.

This hotel was a great choice for a family on a one night visit to Athens. Rooms are basic, with ceiling fan but you can ask for air con. What more than made up for this was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They went out of their way to show us places to visit and also places to be avoided. Location was great and although breakfast was not included, there are numerous places to eat within spitting distance, on your way to the Acropolis. Another big plus was the convenient location to the metro, which made our onward journey to Piraeus very easy.
Would definitely recommend if your expectations are not too high.

Thanks for a brief but lovely stay. Very good location and owner very friendly and helpful. Very hot in room even with ceiling fan but you can perhaps ask for air con. A nice little haven in a busy city.

Centrally located, easy access to busses and subway. Don't expect too much from the rooms and bathrooms. The owners are very friendly and nice. The problem was the room, because the sheets were old and worn out, and the cover wasn't very clean as well as the decorative pillowes on the bed, and the pillowes used to sleep on. I would not go back there.
