We selected the hotel based on the high marks it received which set our expectation higher than it should have been. Considering the location, it could be an outstanding, exceptional boutique hotel with a minimal amount of investment.
The reception/bar/dining area is a bit dated and dim. The room we were given was on the second floor in the front and was very basic and small. So, it is not place to come back to for relaxation after trekking around all day. It is basically a place to sleep. The rooftop patio is a bit shabby. The plastic tables and chairs were moldy and cracked.
The internet service was sub par to what is available in the U.S. but maybe better than other hotels in Athens. I had to be in the lobby to get a good wireless connection. The connection would disappear by the time one got to one's room.
On the flip side you can't get a better view of the Parthenon from the roof top. The location is excellent and one felt safe in the neighborhood. There are a number of great cafe's down the street (turning left on the street from the hotel one block street) and Plaka and Kolonaki are within an easy walking distance.
The hotel is also conveniently located from the Metro station. We took the subway from the airport and had absolutely no problems.
The breakfast was satisfying. If one is looking for place just to sleep, this will be just right.
