“great hotel for business travelers,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

the hotel is big, the lobby looks new and very decorated, when you go up to the room it loos a bit out dated, but very clean.
the room is big and very comfortable.
bathroom is well equipped and clean.
service is great, and breakfast is the best.
they gym is not so big, but good enough with water and towels and all needed equipment.
the problem is the location. nothing to do in the hotel area, need to get a taxi to city center where all the restaurants and street markets are.

Room Tip: try to get a room not facing the street, if u want the window open to avoid the noise.

Dear Hagai9,

Thank you for staying at the Athenaeum InterContinental during your business trip to Athens this month. Guest satisfaction is our primary concern and it pleases us to learn that you enjoyed the comfort of our rooms, our high level of service and facilities as well as our extensive breakfast buffet. May we take this opportunity to inform you that while our hotel is situated in a residential and business area, we provide a complimentary daily shuttle bus service to Syntagma square. We thank you for your kind comments and look forward to welcoming you back to the Athenaeum InterContinental Athens.

We stayed two nights at this newly renovated hotel. We were in a competitor hotel and didn't have good service so decided to stay here...a very good decision. We were greeted with friendliness and smiles. They have a free shuttle that takes you to the market area....a must if you are visiting Athens. The renos look great. I would recommend this hotel for both business and family travel.

The view from the top floor bar is amazing, and worth a visit itself, even though many places in Athens have the same vista. Other than that - the hotel is good but nothing much more. Large open spaces, decent restaurants, decent but not great gym where half the equipment did not work, good large rooms but noisy air conditioning. Staff was indifferent but effective. Would not visit unless for business reasons

We stayed here for a 5 night break and we weren't disappointed. The rooms were lovely tho the view wasn't the best (114) but we didn't spend too long in the room for that to be a problem. The shuttle bus into the centre was great a real bonus. We had pre booked breakfast which was lovely - you wouldn't go hungry and our waitress was amazing. My biggest grumble is the price of drinks €8.50 for a small beer and even €6.50 for a bottle of water was rather costly. We would have used the hotel more after a long day sight seeing if the cost of a coffee or beer had been slightly less. I know you expect to pay more in a hotel but when a beer in the Plaka area is €3.50 I felt the cost in the hotel was just a bit too much. Other than that a great hotel!

This hotel looks better on the inside than from outside. A huge foyer with multiple shops. The room was good but not exceptional. We had distant views of the Parthenon from our window. The club lounge is decent enough and worth the upgrade. The surroundings of the hotel are a bit run down, and it is a stiff walk to the centre or to the Parthenon.

Dear Vaux,

Thank you for staying at the Athenaeum InterContinental during your visit to Athens.
We are pleased to know that you had a comfortable stay in our hotel and that you found the Club InterContinental to your satisfaction.
At this point I would like to take the opportunity to mention as a reference for a possible future visit, that apart from our complimentary shuttle bus service to the city centre, the metro and the tram lines to the centre of Athens are only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your comments and we are looking forward to welcome you back to our hotel.

Yours Sincerely,

Martha Pallis

Upon entering the InterContinental in Athens, you will be awed by the size and attention to detail of the hotel lobby. The lobby oozes class, with marble and expensive upholstered seats everywhere. The reception staff are always in abundance, which never leaves you queuing for long, or at all. This is fantastic. They can often speak great english and communicate very well with tourists, something which I always have great respect for.

The views from the hotel, no matter what floor your room is on, are stunning. We were on the fourth floor and had the most fantastic views of the Acropolis. A true wonder both in the day, but also the night when it is lit up.

The IC Athens is a half hour taxi ride from the airport, and a five minute taxi ride, or tram ride into the centre of town. Location is therefore spot on, although the surrounding area isn't the nicest.

In terms of facilities, the gym and spa areas of the hotel are out of this world. All machines are incredibly new, and the gym even includes free weights, something very rare in hotel gyms!

Look nowhere else if you want somewhere to help make your stay special in Athens. Truly fantastic.
