Stayed here for one night on a Priceline win. Wanted a king-bed room and had not asked for it in advance - wasn't expecting to get one but we did! Room was very spacious, compared to what I had been expecting for a European hotel - it was up to North American standards in fact. The fitness room (which we used) was better than most hotel fitness rooms I've been in, with a decent supply of new Techno-branded gym equipment and is open 24hrs. In fact, the dumbells if I recall correctly went up as far as 40lbs, which is more than most hotels offer.
The hotel is located farther away from the nearest subway stop than we had thought. We didn't use it as we had taken the taxi from the airport to the hotel. We passed it on our walk to the Acropolis and remarked how far it was - I wouldn't recommend taking the subway if you have a great deal of luggage. IF you don't mind a 5-10min walk and you have only carryon or lighter luggage, it might not be so bad (there are a couple of busy streets you will have to cross). This was probably my only minor gripe with the hotel - as a result of the distance from the subway (we each had one 20kg rolling checked luggage with us), we opted to take a taxi on our exit from the hotel to Piraeus port to catch our ferry, rather than attempt to get to the subway on a hot June afternoon. The other side of this though is that the hotel is located in a quiet area with little noise, which is a plus.
One must-do esp. if you stay in this hotel is that you must visit the bar on the rooftop. We arrived to the hotel at 11pm on a Thursday night, and were happy to see that the bar was still open (until 1am or 2am). The outside bar on the roof has a commanding view of the Acropolis at night, and is a must-do - it saved us a trip out to the streets of Athens to find a nightview of the Acropolis. We hunkered down with a glass of wine each at the rooftop bar, and they brought some complimentary nuts and had a great evening and took some amazing shots. There are ledges alongside the edge of the bar which are perfect for setting up your camera for a nice long-open-shuttered shot to capture that Acropolis view.
The Priceline win does not include breakfast. Perhaps other purchase methods might. That afforded us an opporunity to make the 15-20min walk to Syntagma square where we had a nice breakfast, then walked to the south entrance of the Acropolis for the visit. We found the walk to Acropolis very manageable, although there are two busy streets that you will have to cross.
Overall, I'd recommend this hotel if you can get a good deal on it. I had low expectation of this place given what else is available in Athens, and was pleasantly surprised.
