Good experience: close to Metro and train station, making access to taxis and the rest of the city easy; roof bar (drinks are not cheap); view is tremendous from the roof cafe/pool area; cafe around the corner to the left is pretty good.

Unexpected experience: air conditioning, even on high speed, is not really cool, and there is no thermostat; have to use room key to enable power in the room; free breakfast is European and not what you're used to at Waffle House or any American hotel chain; staff has trouble with English--be prepared to be misunderstood; beds are nothing more than box springs--no sleep number beds here--your back will be sore when you get up in the morning; internet connectivity in their internet cafe is sketchy, hard to remain connected, difficult to use; not in the best part of town; abundance of tourists in groups using the hotel.

If you are in Athens for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, spend the extra money and find a hotel with more stars and better beds.

We stayed in the Oscar Hotel for 2 nights. Parked in the street just up from the hotel and asked the guy on reception if our car would be OK there - he assured us it would. Went out later and it had been broken into and a bag stolen. Frustrating after having driven all the way from Scotland (in the days after Karadicz was captured, through Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo) with no problems. We were then informed that it was a bad area - had we been told that originally we would have used the secure car park in the next street.
Hotel and room was OK, food mediocre.
Staff were helpful.
Hotel was in a good location for the metro.
Athens itself (other than the Acropolis / Plaka area) is dirty (including a used syringe on the pavement) and covered in graffiti.

Friendly staff, typical good Greek hospitality, excellent location next to metro, clean large rooms, piscine with fantastic view to Parthenon, good price, close to museums and other main attractions (Omonia, Sintagma, Plaka, Monastiraki, Akropolis), sufficient breakfast, beautiful paintings from famous painters in the basement.

Excellent hotel, with extremely friendly staff, good breakfast, logical price, very good location-METRO, close to museums and to down town area, exceptional expensive paintings on the walls from very famous European painters. We stay in the hotel for 4 nights with my wife.
