“Room with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

Well the room view looks over the roof tops of Athens but go upstairs for breakfast which incidentally is very good and you will look out at ancient ruins.
The roof top pool is pleasant, you are laying in sunshine that is kind and not of the biting variety looking out at amazing views.
The location is handy to everything and due to the economy the prices are very good.

We stayed here with my family since I always stay at Radisson if possible. Rooms are good standard and personnel were extremely nice. Breakfast at the rooftop is great. Located near the Victoria metro is convinient to getting to all major sights.

A very cheap (on current exchange rates) Radisson Blu in central Athens. Handy for everything. We walked or caught a taxi to all the sights. It's right next to the National Archeological Museum. Every taxi driver knows it as the Park Hotel (think it must've recently become a Radisson). Restaurant and lobby snacks excellent.
Athens is a great place for a short break as you actually stand a chance of seeing most of the big sights in a few days. We enjoyed the Parthenon, Plaka, Museums and Galleries, Agora, Monastraki and other smaller sights as well as eating and drinking plus great weather. If you get a chance go to Olympia, Mycenae and Delphi

I stayed here as I didn't have time to find a quaint, local B&B. This hotel is well located in that it's a 30 min walk to the Plaka area and the Parthenon via a direct route. It's also just near the Archaeological Museum. The interior is indeed very dark - someone has tried to make this place uber modern with decorations of butterflies, bikes and the like, but it won't distract from your stay. The lobby can be very busy as it attracts tour buses but again it isn't a distraction.

The upstairs bar has a great view of the Parthenon, especially at night. Unfortunately the bar manager won't let you open the windows which is a shame as that could really make this a lovely place to watch the sun go down. The wine list and service is sub par, but the food (especially the pizza) is delicious.

Great gym with everything a gym junkie will need. It never seems to get busy. There's a decent park directly across the road which is decent for a run (approximately 3k per loop).

For anyone looking for a decent restaurant, try Alexanders on the same road (come out of the hotel and turn right - walk 10 min). There's a superb coffee shop (turn left out of the hotel, take the next left, and you'll see the 'illy' sign) which does magnificent coffee (light pastries only).

Definitely would stay here again.

You enter the lift of the hotel and move towards your room and you get a feeling of hotel being a touch dingy & shady. Poorly lit and done up with dark colours, this erstwhile Park hotel definitely needs a touch up. So do the rooms which are not worth the money they charge. Saving grace then is the front-desk staff which was extremely helpful in arranging for our travel and sight seeing needs. Also, its located very close to Victoria metro station(500 m) as also to bus-station where the famous "Hop on-Hop off" buses stop (Stop Name: Aracheological Museum). The roof-top lounge with swimming pool was inviting but again the cold evenings meant that our dinner was indoors. The food and service was good and definitely one of the cheaper meals I have had in Greece.

Room Tip: Check if all the things are functioning in the room. For eg: Fridge in our room was not functioning...

We stayed for 4 nights. Took the airport metro blue line upto Monastiraki station and interchanged to the green line to Victoria, which is 2 stations away. Watch out a Monastiraki station, as we were nearly pick pocketed by a group, who tried to panic us while exiting the metro. Just be careful and have nothing in your pockets. Put everything in your backpack.
Exit Victoria station, turn left and take the second left turn. You will exit at a traffic junction, from where you can see the hotel in the front. By metro, the fare was 14 Euros for the two of us. By taxi, we were told that it is 35 Euros by day and 53 Euros by night.
The reception staff were extremely helpful during our stay. I have to make this comment, as I had an emergency and they helped us out to a great extent.
The rooms are not exceptionally large, but fine. Wi-fi was great in the room. Low side was that this was the first hotel that I have stayed in the last 5 years, which does not have a in-room coffee-tea supplies / maker. Strange!! It was very warm in Athens during the first week of May. The roof top swimming pool was shut and we were told that it has not yet opened for "summer". Breakfast was fine and with a good spread. Check out the night view of Acropolis from the 8th floor bar - its worth the stay at the hotel.
There is a bus stand in front of the hotel, that has a local bus going to Sounion. Very helpful. Costs 6.30 Euro one way and is a 2 hour ride by the coast. Enquire at the bus stand counter, which is behind the road side kiosk.
The Pedion park opposite the hotel is large, very overgrown and has quite a few seedy guys and gangs on every bench. Well avoided by the evening.
If you have kids below the age of 18, there are a lot of savings in terms of metro tickets. In fact, the kids go free to all the Acropolis sights.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the Pedion Park
