My wife, two teens and I just returned from Athens. As with most European hotels, we could not get a room that accomodated 4 people, so we had to get two rooms. We spent seven nights at this hotel. It was a wonderful place to stay. As many have written before us, the rooms are on the small side, but extremely clean and well kept. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location is wonderful. Two short blocks from the Sygrou-Fix Metro stop (which includes a stop for the Tram which takes you to some great beaches to the south), right on the edge of Plaka and all it's shopping and restaurants, short walk to the Acropolis. A great pizza place (Diva's) and ice cream shop were right around the corner. Better water pressure (and ample hot water) than we have at home. Amazing full breakfast...easily holds you until dinner. Don't let first appearances of the outside area scare you away; this little hotel is a great find. We also had no trouble with the lift; all four of us fit in it, and we made two trips with our luggage...not a big deal at all. If we returned to Athens, we'd definitely stay here again.

We only stayed here for one night on our way to Santorini but it was great. The location was great, right near the Acropolis and within walking distance of the old Olympic Stadium. The staff were very friendly and the room was well appointed. They also had a great breakfast buffet. The only problem we found was that the lift was very small and difficult to fit luggage. Other than that, this hotel was great and we would definately recommend it.

The older I get and the more I travel, I appreciate a good hotel. The Acropolis Select in Athens, Greece offers not only a clean, beautiful hotel with amentities and a great location, but it is also reasonably priced and a great value for what you pay. I booked a single room for 90 euros, but the room had two single beds, a large bedroom area, a large bathroom with hairdryer, a refrigerator and air conditioning. This is crucial for Athens in the summer. However, what impressed me was the breakfast. The room cost about 120 US, which is about what you pay for the same type of hotel in the US, but the breakfast was ASTOUNDING! It had everything you could want--pancakes, french toast, three diffferent types of eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, cereals, three or four types of bread, juices, yogurt and fresh fruit. You cannot get a breakfast like that at a US hotel for a 120 a night. It was fantastic. The location cannot be beat either. Go left out of the hotel and you find a metro stop, and go right out of the hotel for about 15 min and you find the Acropolis and the Plaka (plus there is another metro stop on the way). I enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely stay there again next year.

My Husband and I stayed at the Acropolis Select for a week at the end of April 2007. We really enjoyed this Hotel and will stay again, the rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space the housekeeping was very good beds and bathroom cleaned properly every day. All public rooms were clean and very pleasant and the Staff polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good continental and cooked breakfast served buffet style.
The street outside was a little untidy but there seems to be some regeneration in the area, A few minutes walk away is Makriyanni Street which has very nice restuarants snack bars a pharmacy and general shops and the new Acropolis Metro Station.
The Hotel is within easy walking distance of all major tourist sites and the more classy shops.

If you are taking travellers cheques go to an exchange ( Not the one by The Grand Bretange he wants 10%) ask how much comission they charge it should be between 1.8% and 2% with a minimum charge or 4 euros ( Banks take 10%)
Good comfortable , non slip walking shoes are essential.

We stayed at the Acropolis Select for five nights at the beginning of our trip to Greece. We were happy (more than satisfied) with it in every way. The room was a bit smaller than most American hotels, but was equipped with plenty of storage space, a small balcony, small bath tub as well as shower.

As many have said, the location of this hotel is wonderful -- about 5-10 minutes from the Acropolis (uphill) and 10 minutes from the Plaka, the "old city" where many restaurants, shops, catering to tourists. Every evening we would head up Falirou and then Makrianni Sts. for dinner.

The American/English style breakfast buffet was impressive, I thought, with ample choice of hot and cold foods. Just a few grumbles about it,one of which was seriously undercooked bacon. Every morning we were able to fortify ourselves with this, and then just have a snack (gyro, sandwich baguette) for lunch.

We did not have occasion to use room service, but just about all aspects of our stay were fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, the few times we asked questions.

We paid $125 American per night (93 Euros).

The Acropolis Select is not a luxury hotel, but we were very comfortable there. Oh yes, we asked for a quiet, rear room, but discovered the rear of the hotel faces Syngrou St., one of the main thoroughfares of the city. However, since we kept the doors to the balcony closed (air conditioning), it was quiet.
