overall the hotel looks nice.it is beautiful decorated with fine quality furnishings, classical in style, everything in working order brand new and shiny and the location of it is just in the middle of everything.it has many facilities such as an indoor pool with very warm pleasant water,a jaccuzi, hamam ,sauna ,a gym all of them complimentary. the food at the hotel is above average in quality and the tastes are very good.breakfast is also above average.BUT THE STAFF IS THE RUDEST I HAVE EVER MET IN A 5 STAR HOTEL!!!check-in was very unprofessional not even a welcoming word.the bell-boy was unpolite and very stiffy.the receptionist gave us a terrible room.after arguing with them they gave us a very beautiful fairly large room.the only negative was that the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom.there was no turn down service something that you expect from a 5 star hotel. room service was very bad by very rude staff again.they had forgotten half of the things we ordered and we had to call them again to bring the rest.but we dis not have so much luck cause the second time also forgot some things again.so by the third time they managed finally to bring everything we ordered!!!wow!
generally this is a very fine and wonderful hotel as far as the decoration .the staff is so terrible one can not imagine! NEVER AGAIN.STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT BETTER TREATMENT.

  • Liked — the very fine decoration
  • Disliked — the very rude, staff.
  • Tips/Secrets: — there are better hotels in athens as far as the staff concerns.

If you like tourist trap hotels then this is for you! :) The service was quite poor and the rooms needed a good cleaning and update. We did not like staying in the Plaka area and only stayed here one night b/c the rooms were not that clean and the staff wasn't that friendly/helpful.

  • Liked — Our view of the Acropolis
  • Disliked — The room was not comfortable or clean.

This hotel is okay but not 5 star and not worth the money.

The rooms are very small as are the bathrooms. We had to stay in a twin room the first night as they had no doubles, despite clearly having booked a double and then were moved the next day but with no big apology for the inconvenience. (this seems to be the case on several other reviews).
The showers are over the bath and not great - the water went hot and cold without touching the controls.

The front desk staff are awful at recommending restaurants. They recommended a restaurant that either didnt exist or was a horrible looking bar with a different name. Other times, they didnt know anywhere to recommend/didnt know a main restaurant out of the Time Out guide to phone and book for us and I ended up booking it myself. From looking at the hotel dinner menu, i wouldnt recommend the hotel restaurant at all.
The buffet breakfast was in the small restaurant room, where people had to wait for a seat and the food selection was okay but again not what you would expect from a 5*.

The "gym" is a running machine (which a child in socks was using and wasn't asked to stop), a bike and a weights station. It is underground and has no air conditioning which was almost unbearable even in October.
The indoor pool is tiny and dark, a length was a maximum of 4 strokes.
We had a massage, which was good, but in a tiny underground room which was very noisy from kids playing in the pool, slamming doors into the showers and the masseuse had to stop twice to go out and tell some children to stop jumping in the pool.

The outdoor pool area looked nice, except they were doing building works on some of the patio area and there were no free sun loungers - even on an October afternoon.

The location is central for touristy stuff but the side street where the hotel is isn't great.

We had a pleasant stay here but it wasnt what we expected from a 5* hotel and therefore worked out to be quite expensive for what we actually got. I wouldn't recommend it, there must be better hotels in Athens.

The Electra Palace is on a small side street, but two blocks in either direction and you are in the Plaka or near the Parliament. Close and Convenient to everything. The rooms were wonderful, with great views of the acropolis and quiet at night. Breakfast buffet was large and filling, plenty to keep us going all day. The staff was always very friendly and helpful with our plans.

The only thing I could mention is that the beds were a little firm for my tasts, but MUCHbetter than other places we stayed while in Greece!

Don't share a room if you're shy - the bathroom (including toilet) doors are GLASS and completely see-through. This is a great hotel with great views, food and drinks and 2 minutes walk to the Plaka, but STAY AWAY FROM THE STAFF.

The bald guy at the desk is a rude, arrogant man whose mere look is enough to drive you to tears. He wants nothing to do with even the most minor requests (an extra bathrobe, please?), let alone complaints. Most of the staff "pretendeded" not to speak English during our entire stay to avoid serving us. When we ordered a cocktail at the Pool Bar we were told that we had to go downstairs (4 floors, the pool is on the roof) OURSELVES because he was "out of pineapple juice and it is too hot for me to keep walking up and down stairs just to serve you".
We were disgusted with this kind of service, which is such a shame because otherwise it would have been a lovely place to stay.

  • Liked — Location, views, pool, food
  • Disliked — Staff were unbearably rude.
