Athens was the last stop on an almost three week Greece adventure with friends. We were lucky enough to book and pay for the rooms on Expedia last summer when the dollar was a little stronger. That made a huge difference as The Electra Palace was our most expensive hotel of the trip.
You couldn't have asked for a better location. Because it is a quick walk from Syntagma Square we were able to further optimize our travel dollar by taking the metro and the airport bus instead of cabs.
The breakfast buffet was very very good. Complete with a fresh orange juice machine. The service was very friendly and my husband has hair down to his waist and looks like a member of ZZ Top...and sometimes causes strange stares. But surprisingly, not there.
The rooftop patio overlooking the Acropolis was an added plus. Every night we bought our own wine and appetizers and watched the sunset.
My only real complaint is that they charged over 6 euro per half hour to use the internet...wireless and their own. It should be FREE! Every other place we stayed at was.
All in all I was really happy there. If you can afford it with the state of our dollar, I suggest it!
