I stayed in the Horodian Hotel last April and overall had a good stay.
Firstly the location of the hotel was great, very near to Plaka and the Acropolis. However whilst we were there alot of buliding work was going on so surrounding area not great at the moment. When new museum opens the hotel will be very well located as just around the corner.
When we entered the hotel we felt sure we had made the right choice as nice big and well presented lobby which looked like a 4 star. Therefore at that point we were ancticipating a nice room. I was also hopeful as I had communicted with the hotel previously, requesting a room with a view which they said they would try their best to forfil (although had said they couldn't promise, so wasn't expecting it)
On entering the room I was quite disapointed as compared to rooms that they showed on their website, this was utterly different. Firstly I was shocked at how dark it was. The walls were painted a very very dark green and combined with the fact that the only light available was from one door that led out to a very narrow balcony that looked out onto other houses. The room was so dark that in the middle of the day you had to have the light on or would be too dark. I found this to be quite gloomy and depressive to come back to, especially after being out in the bright Athens sunshine.(Great if you don't like to be woken up by light in the morning!) The bathroom in the room from what I can rememebr was fine, perhaps not up to general 4 star standard but clean and functional. The room was also serviced everyday and always seemed quite clean.
The rest of the hotel seemed nice, the rooftop terrace had great views and the hot tubs looked inviting apart from the fact that you would have to pay extra to use them. We would have payed but ended up being too busy to use them.
Overall I would say the hotel is nice and if you get a good room like the ones they show on the website I imagine you would have a pleasant day. However the room we had wasn't great, however felt lucky as some of the rooms around us looked even more badly located. I would recommend staying here but be aware as you might pull the short straw as far as rooms are concerned!
