“was just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

I spent 2 nights in Herodion Hotel , and was just perfect. The location can not be better, You can find within walking distance most of the historical sights and the museums You should see in Athens. The staff was polite and helpful, they do a great job, quick, considerate. Why I really choosed this hotel, was the roof terrace , and I have to say, was a good decision: the roof terraces with the spa facilities are priceless, the view from the two top floors is more than amazing. After some business meetings, was relaxing with a drink or a coffee
The room was tiny, but nice, and I have to admit, my bed was extremly comfortable.
Would strongly reccommend for business or city travellers as well.

We spent four nights the Herodian in mid-August. Location was great - near many restaurants but away from the noise of the Plaka and with terrific roof-top views of the Acropolis from the two top floors.
Good spa to laze in with a drink, gzing upon the Parthenon; good roof garden enjoyomg the same view.
Nearby is a very good restaurant, Strofi abot 250 metres away in the same street (also with wonderful Parthenon views).
Service and welcome were okay although not as friendly as most we had in Greece. Breakfast was okay with reasonable variety (boiled eggs were always hard though!).
Rooms were adequate but not large and the bathroom was good as it did include a tub, which is a great indulgence when on holiday for us.
We would happily return to Heodian and have pleasure in recommending it.

We arrived in Athens in early November when the weather is a comfortable temperature and the crowds have thinned. The Herodion Hotel is ideally located and has a rooftop terrace with a most amazing view of the Acropolis. The location was so convenient as it is only a 5 minute walk to the entrance of the Acropolis, the museum and the Plaka, which have great shops, especially "Georges" which has beautiful designer jewelry. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance if you don't want to eat at the Hotel, but I would recommend eating breakfast at the hotel. There were three of us staying in a room which was larger than we thought it would be and the beds were comfortable

Room Tip: Next time we go I will ask for a room higher up as you would have views of the Acropolis

We stayed here for 3 nights in July. The metro ride from the airport took about 45 minutes. The metro is empty from the airport but once it gets into the city it starts to fill up pretty quickly. There is one transfer involved if you plan on taking the metro. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Acropolis Metro station. We we're greeted with a friendly front desk. Our room was ready to go when we arrived. The front desk was always very helpful with any questions we asked. Both the hotel and room were clean. The decor was very simple. The bathroom was good for Europe's standard. I was expecting a smaller bathroom but this one was a good size. Good water pressure and always had hot water. The in-room electronic safe worked well. The rooftop view of the Acropolis was amazing, especialy in the evening. We felt safe in the hotel and when walking around the neighborhood all all times during the night and morning.

The location was great. Plaka is a beautiful neighborhood. There were many shops and restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed walking through the neighborhood everyday and evening. My fionse has to follow a gluten free diet and she had no problems eating in Athens while we were there. On that topic, we also found a small biomarket a couple of train stops away that sold gluten free products. Feel free to send a message with any questions about that.

The hotel is walking distance to the Acropolis and the new Acropolis museum is right next door! The new Acropolis museaum is amazing. If you can bear the heat and the people, I would visit the museum first and then the Acropolis. You will have a better understanding of the layout if you do so.

In my honest opinion, I do feel the hotel is a little overpriced, due to the amenities offered, but I would definitely stay again due to the cleanliness, location and hospitality of the staff.

Feel free to write with any questions.

Rooms are so-so but the location makes up for it. It's an easy 10 minute walk to the West entrance of the Acropolis and less than 5 minutes to the museum. Quieter neighborhoods are to the South. This hotel is right on the edge of all the action!

Beware of nice locals who befriend you then ask you to a bar for a drink. The drinks might end up costing $200 each and you might be forced to pay by a very large Greek guy. If someone is too nice, there might be a reason!!

Room Tip: Rooms higher up on the north side might have an Acropolis view.

I woke up in the middle of the night seeing bedbugs on my sheets! The front desk would not help me and insted told me that I brought the Bed Bugs from the United States! They also refused to conpensate me for that one night. The Bar/Restaraunt staff was rude and unfriendly stating that they hate American Tourists because they bring heavy bags. Other than the great views of the acropolis and great location, this hotel is not a good value for the money and I would not recommend anyone stay there.

Dear Mrs Mary K. Thank you for staying at the Herodion. We clearly recall your stay at our Hotel. We are perfectly aware of the complaints stated by you, regarding your stay from August 1st, 2012 to August 3rd, 2012: you reported bedbugs to our receptionist Mr Psathas, and our groom Mr Komninakis. immediately escorted you and helped you move to another room. Next morning, although we found nothing in your room, we preemptively disinfected it and evacuated it for 10 days. Furthermore, as per our discussion with your father, your party stated that they were perfectly content. Regarding the alleged comments you reported coming from our staff about American tourists: we are obliged to inform you that this is a family owned business and all our staff has been highly selected and been with us for numerous years. During these difficult times, both management and staff are well aware that the Hotel depends solely on our esteemed clientèle. Consequently, such an inappropriate behavior is completely improbable. As a testament to the above, stand the excellent comments simultaneously posted as well as our longstanding reputation.

You can't beat the Herodion location, with incredible terrace view of Acropolis and Acropolis Museum (and the port on the other) and short walks to the classic sites of Athens and good restaurants. The breakfast was great as well.

It's a bit pricey, compared to some great hotels outside of Athens, but serviceable rooms and professional and generally helpful staff.
