“Not bad but it is last time I am here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I expect much from hotel of this level and price. I will not mentioned that last time I was here I got the key to the room in which some guy was already sleeping (!!). So shortly: rooms are large, clean and nice. A bit noisy when you have it from the main road side. The ironing board is in such a bad shape that it makes it impossible to iron properly a shirt. Nice breakfast - but avoid this weird thing called 'scrambled eggs' - it has nothing to do with eggs, its just disgusting. Go straight for omelette. Very good lunch in lobby restaurant though. Kind and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Take the room which has a balcony but not from the main street.

The hotel was clean and the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel offered many services to make your stay comfortable. The hotel's location was also convenient. It wasn't too far from major sites like the Plaka. If you are looking for a good hotel experience, then I recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Ledra for four nights on a city break. The hotel is a little bit too far to walk into Athens Town, but as there is a frequent shuttle bus to and from the hotel entrance, this presented no problem at all. Check in was smooth and quick, no more than five minutes from entering the lobby to being in our room. Reception staff welcoming and informative and provided all the information required at that time. Our room was a good size, spotless and smelled fresh. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom clean, well stocked with toiletries and towels etc. The shower pressure excellent and piping hot. Housekeeping services were very efficient and thorough. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were very welcome and there are ice machines in the corridors. Room temperature was easy to regulate. Public areas of the hotel, such as lobby and elevator landings were clean and comfortable. We used the Zephyr Restaurant daily for breakfast. Staff were friendly and cheerful, willing to assist with anything required. The range and quality of food was impressive, I cannot imagine that anyone would not find something they wanted to eat from juice, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, many types of bread and rolls, meats and cheeses, traditional cooked breakfast with any type of eggs you wanted, plus pastries, jams and conserves etc. with as much tea or coffee as you liked. There was never any problem being seated and we ate at various times between 7.30 and 11am, the busiest being around 9-9.30 but even then, never a feeling of being rushed. For evening dining we used room service a couple of times. The choice was limited, but sufficient, and the quality of food was just as good as the restaurant. It was delivered hot, promptly and politely. We also used Crystal Lounge Restaurant a couple of times. The food here was wonderful, although again, not a huge choice, but certainly always a choice of meat, fish, poultry, vegetarian, pasta, pizza etc. and lovely desserts. The price was also very reasonable, and the staff welcoming and attentive. Live music was played in the lobby (excellent pianist and vocalist one night, jazz trio another night) which added a lovely relaxed atmosphere whilst dining. We used the hotel's travel agent desk to book a trip out of town one day, and this was easy and efficient, with pick up and drop off at the hotel entrance, and a very good excursion for a fair price. On general matters, disappointingly due to the time of our stay, the hotel rooftop pool and terrace etc was not in use, and I would imagine this would be an incredible place to sit and view Athens. There is free Wi-Fi in some public areas, and paid access only in the rooms. If you are looking for the traditional authentic small scale Greek experience, then perhaps the Ledra is not the place for you. But if, like us, you want comfort and familiarity but still to enjoy the sights and sounds of this wonderful city, we would recommend the Ledra without hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and if possible an Acropolis view

I think I was in the Ledra for 3 nights, and it was a very nice experience! The rooms and bathrooms (which I'm particular with) were very spacious, neat, and clean, and the hotel lobby was gorgeous, especially the restaurant. The food at the restaurant and the breakfast was REALLY good. However, the hotel people weren't really that nice (accommodating though) and the wi-fi was only free at the lobby.

Stayed for two nights at the hotel. The room was OK, amenities were complete (bathrobes available). Tried the swimming pool at the roof top at the hotel. The water was cold, but the scenery was nice. The pool was not too big though.

Breakfast was very nice, I love the honeycomb and the croissant bread! It was a busy hotel, so you'd better don't leave the table empty when you have breakfast, because you may lose your table to someone else.

I went with my husband and a group of tour, so we did not spend much time in the hotel or surroundings.

This was a former Marriott. Past glory, everywhere dusty carpet, the smell of cleaning products. old furniture. This hotels needs urgently a face lift.
The surroundings are terrible : located outside the center at a busy road with sex/strip clubs and empty buildings: as an example :just in front of the hotel you have the "Kinky Opera".
The surroundings are not suitable for families.
The staff is OK although they miss the "extra mile to go". There where little guests in the hotel and too much employees. Greece is going through a challenging period and perhaps this is reflected as well during our stay in this hotel.

Dear Vince816,

thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay with us recently at the Athens Ledra Hotel.
As far as the current condition issues of the hotel concern, may we take the opportunity to inform you that after Marriott’s Management contract termination, we proceeded with partial renovation in various areas. For example, we started the renovation of our pool and Panorama’s summer Restaurant-Bar and continued with the Crystal Restaurant-Bar’s internal and external area, which re-opened its doors with a new Italian concept. Therefore, the detailed renovation plans are in place and hopefully we will have a renewed hotel in the near future.
In regards to your comment on our location, please be informed that we are located in a business and residential area close to historical sites and the city center. The hotel's location is not something that can be controlled at by the hotel itself. Every big city offers a large variety of buildings, monuments, areas, businesses, night clubs, restaurants etc. all mixed in every area and suburb without a specific form or control.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback on the area of the Hotel that impacted on your recent stay.

Yours Sincerely,

Gianni Riatsch
