Nice classic service. Some fresh atmosphere would be welcome. Good quality for an International hotel. Nice lobby bar and the rooms are clean and have nice bed quality. Some of the rooms have direct view to the Acrópolis. Room rates could be better, this time around 140€.

The hotel rooms are very clean and spacious, the Beds are very comfortable. the breakfast is fantastic. as they have all styles of foods. the location is not great as it is in between Athens and Piraeus. it is 8 euros by taxi to the centre.

Marriotts set a pretty high standard. When we got to our room with a balcony overlooking the Acropolis we found none of the plants on our level had been watered and were dying and the balcony was cluttered with pigeon feathers that hadn't been swept in days.

We left and got a cab to get us closer to the heart of town and when we came back the concierge sent up the housekeeping manager who kept a straight face and said they were swept every day and did nothing.

When we tried to use the rooftop restaurant we were told it had been rented out. Apparently it usually is, so a prime asset to the resident tourist is seldom available.

That was Athens in a nutshell, a dirty, badly managed city, full of a population in total denial, with an excuse for everything and a solution for nothing. Athenians today seem to think service is an unreasonable expectation.

There were practically no benches anywhere in public areas nor drinking fountains and the signage was terrible. They need to visit Istanbul and see how it is done. Glad to get out of there.

Fortunately before we did we had a great breakfast buffet so at least we left well-fed as well as fed up.

From the pictures and some of the reviews I thought this was going to be a awesome hotel. However I was a little disappointed in the hotel staff and concierge. The hotel rooms where outdated and the hotel overcharges for there taxi reservations from the hotel to the airport.

You are better off taking taxi on your own instead of using the hotel to make your reservations. It cost 40 euro but if you use the hotel they want to charge 60 euro... Crazy
