“First Stop Athens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Because of location and a recommended view, my wife and I decided to stay here. The rates were reasonable, the staff was very helpful and friendly. This location is across the street from Zeus temple and about 3 minutes from the Plaka where shops and restaurants are. Its just a little further from the Acropolis and Monastraki which is also near by. We took the sub about a 10 minute walk to Gazi for dinners and a little night life. Its a college town with bar / clubs on one side and restaurants / gastropubs on the other. The hotel has a great roof top breakfast and the view is awesome. English is spoken by nearly everyone in the hotel which was nice. We stayed in a standard room which was nice. There is a tour company about one door over that provides various trips. You can see Mt. Leviticus from the roof top and its not a far hike maybe two hours with some photo stops. Along the same route to the Plaka and the Acropolis is a pickup for the double deck tour bus that provides ear buds and audio on about 14 of the major tourist spots. We did a two day and used it to get around a little at times. The weather was in the low to mid 80s which made it nice and enjoyable at the hotel pool. We recommend this place and would stay there again. A couple of places we liked for food and or drinks are Kosmikon in the Plaka, Eoybaaki in Gazi, butcher shop in Gazi, Athens Beer Drinks & Food between the hotel and Plaka.

Room Tip: We were out quite a bit so no real tips on this. Sooo much to see and do over 4 days.

OUr flight was late so we ended up getting to hotel a little after 1am. We had heard about the rooftop bar and the front desk said if we hurried they may still be open. Once we got up there the bar tenders were awesome. We got two drinks and were able to stay longer to enjoy the view and I was watching a football game on my phone through their wifi which was awesome with the amazing view.

The room was also nice and we were very close to acropolis to see the next day before we flew out to Santorini. Would stay here again especially for price. Metro was easy on the way back to airport. Took bus in on first night cus metro was closed and worked well just took bit longer.

We spent two days here, and enjoyed the comfort of this luxury hotel. Location is the main reason for staying here. 5 minutes walk to The Acropolis Museum, about 15 to Syntagma Square. The tram stop in Arditou is very close, as is the Metro at the museum. The luxury is the fantastically large bedroom and marble bathroom, the hotel pool, and the rooftop restaurant. Breakfast offers a wide choice, but the hot food actually tepid so disappointing. The orange juice is squeezed oranges not canned juice. Dinner looked expensive, though view beautiful. Same view from our room, but from higher up,so also can see Parthenon.

Room Tip: Room tip - insist on de luxe, on front, overlooking Temple of Zeus. No traffic noise, even though on...

We stayed at this hotel as a family on a short trip to Greece. As other reviewers have said, the location is excellent and means that you can visit the Acropolis and Plaka area on foot. The breakfast is ok (standard breakfast in hotels these days) and the Wifi quality not too bad. The rooms are bit older, but nothing to complain about. This is the first hotel we found that has bottle openers on the walls of the bathrooms ! There is a mini mart downstairs which is good for water, snacks etc. The hotel charges reasonable rates for outbound calls (1 euro for one local call to Aegean Airlines - BTW - never fly this airline) and taxis are available by asking the doorman who will get one for you in about 4 minutes for 38 euro to the airport. Sometimes the staff seemed overwhelmed by the number of guests - this hotel has some kind of a tie up with cruise ships - as evidenced by the swarm of retirees proudly wearing their cruise ship T-shirts and expounding their wisdom to the rest of the world at breakfast..citizens of two countries in particular were noted for this behaviour)...the view from the breakfast area is great... overall, good value for the price you pay...

Unfortunately I only stayed one night at this beautiful hotel. The location was perfect and the rooms and staff were excellent. The best part about our stay was the complimentary breakfast on the rooftop with a magnificent view and excellent food. I can't wait to go back and stay here again.

The hotel is situated at a few minutes walk to the main places of interest in Athens (Acropolis, Plaka, Olympic stadium etc). It is also a few meters from the metro station. Staff is friendly. Clean. Breakfast was good and the view of Acropolis from the rooftop while having breakfast was amazing. Althougg close to Acropolis, the hotel is situated a few meters away from the main busy street and hence you are away from noise and busy streets while still close enough to be in the main area within a few minutes.

Room Tip: I booked an executive room with pool view but it turns out that it was what I will actually call a s...

My husband and I stayed here as our last stop of our honeymoon. We had booked this hotel through a travel agent more than a month prior to our reserved date, and prepaid it. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised as to how nice the hotel looked. It was a large lobby and everything looked upscale. When checking in, the receptionist took our passports, then asked for our confirmation number. I presented him with the confirmation number, as well as the hotel voucher showing the date it was booked and that it was prepaid. He then told us the reservation had been cancelled, and that we had to talk to the 'reservation specialist' for more details. He kept our passports and took us to some little room off of the main lobby. The woman basically told us that our reservation was cancelled and unfortunately the hotel is fully booked, but they have some 'interior' rooms that are available, which mean there are no windows or balconies. We asked her how this happened, when more than a month ago we booked this, and PAID for this room, and we were not notified of it being cancelled! And if it WAS cancelled, why was the money never returned to my credit card? She told us it seems it was a 'system error' on her part. But she found the reservation now, but no rooms are free but 'interior' rooms with no windows. We were really pissed because if the mistake was on their part, then why do we have to 'pay' for it by staying in an interior room? Doesn't customer service usually mean that if the hotel makes a mistake, THEY rectify it by compensating for their mistake by upgrading you or giving something complimentary? So we told her that and then she acted frustrated and suddenly- miraculously another room that is NOT interior became available! A fully booked hotel just had a room open up in seconds- amazing! (Sarcasm)

The gentleman at reception never apologized for the mix-up but was friendly and said he gave us a suite. He did not give our passports back until we asked for them back.

The elevators were small and very old. The suite we thought would be decent based on the lobbies appearance, was really dated and low-quality. The carpet was cheap, it even had a stain, the bed was hard, the garbage can was a rusty tin, it was just awful. The bathroom was spacious but really dated. The only positive I can say is that the hotel is in a good location where most of the sites are walking distance.

I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone based on the POOR customer service and the look of the hotel room.
