Fantastic location, clean, friendly staff---great place to stay but it is not a Five Star hotel in the American sense--so don't expect turn down service, fancy linens, etc. Beautiful view. Breakfast was expensive--but cafes are very close and less costly. We would totally stay there again!

Room Tip: You will want to stay on the front side of the hotel--the back side has terrible views

Very close (walking distance) to the Acropolis, Zeus Temple, Old Town ("Plaka") District and Acropolis Museum a perfect location for a first class hotel. You feel to be in Athens and not just in any south European city...
Restaurant on rooftop was full, could not find a place there... thus: Make reservation in time!
Room was OK, I got one in the interior court which seems to be preferable due to the noise at the road side....

Room Tip: The aircondition in my room did not work...had a hot and bad night there (even in march!!).....ask f...

Stayed here late July 2012, and was not expecting the service and room to be as good as it was.

The minute we walked in and went to reception we were treated with so much enthusiasm and happiness.

Maybe it was because we spoke Greek, but the man who checked us in was so excited by a tourist speaking the language, and we were even given an upgrade to a suite with a view of Hadrian's Arch!

We were taken to our room by the lovely porter, he was so helpful, the minute we walked into our room the ruins were right there in front of us... just beautiful.

He showed us how to use all the nifty electronic devices, we could even use a remote to pull a screen down over the window at night, since the ruins light up... but why on earth would we want to hide that?

The pool was gorgeous... we spent a lot of time there, getting poolside service, and enjoying the sun and cocktails.

Drinks were a little on the pricey side, but I'd forgive them that for the atmosphere and the absolute comfort and luxury of the hotel. I remember paying 50 euro for 3 frappe with Baileys!

We had breakfast on the roof overlooking the acropolis and beautiful Parthenon... what a magical way to enjoy evening drinks or breakfast in the morning.

Breakfast, by the way was also fantastic... a lot of variety and a big selection of fresh fruit... and Greek sweets... yummy!

We were there for two nights, and all in all I just did not want to leave... what a beautiful and amazing hotel!

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get a room facing the old ruins... you just get that unbelievable feeling ev...

Location is everything in Athens. Outside of the Acropolis, there's not too much to do here, so when staying in Athens, it's smart to stay close to the Acropolis. We just loved having breakfast, dinner and evening drinks overlooking the Acropolis. The view from the dining room of this hotel is THE reason to stay here. It's awesome, likely one of the best views in the world and it is certainly worth booking this hotel just for the view. And the staff at the bar and in the dining room were always friendly and helpful.
The rooms are clean and satisfactory, nothing good or bad to report.
The pool was closed when we were there which was a bummer because my kids would have swam in it for sure. The locals thought it was too cold, but my kids have qualms over swimming when it's 19C outside.

The hotel has a great location, easy walking distance to many of the top attractions in the city. Nearby there are plenty of places to eat and also several very comfortable coffee shops, far more sophisticated that the usual Starbucks/Pete's in the US. For us a main selling point was the secure underground parking - we were traveling on a motorcycle. The room was comfy but at times very noisy with the outside traffic. The hotel accommodations all are well maintained and clean - as you'd expect from a five start property. My only gripe was that I was supposed to have a 'guaranteed' upgrade that never happened. Oh well. The front desk were quite helpful in providing local information. Taxi from the hotel to the airport takes a little under an hour depending on traffic and is a fixed price (about $40 if I remember correctly).

Room Tip: The hotel rooms are available on many websites. Check all the usual suspects such expedia, laterooms...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

I have come back from a seven night stay at the royal Olympic we stayed in an executive double room and I agree with the other reviewers the location is great, however when a hotel states its five star it does raise expectations and while the hotel entrance and lobby area is indeed five star unfortunately as an international traveller I would not rate the rooms as five star I would at best place them more as a three star. The shower over the bath was full of lime scale, the shower itself was place half way up the wall over the bath making for an interesting shower experience and I was not keen on the shower curtain!! The room itself was just ok but at least it was relatively clean and the balcony was pleasant. the free Internet I thought was a great idea until we tried to use it and we had real difficulty getting a decent signal in the room but a top tip is it does work well in the corridor!!!! Breakfast again sorry but not what I would expect from a five star hotel, it was a complete serve yourself affair including get you own cutlery and the selection was ok but nothing special but the view was lovely. Overall a grand lobby area but average rooms.

We stayed in this hotel to attend a wedding and the reception was also being held here in the Roof Garden Restaurant. Although we were located at the back of the hotel this was a bonus as we were shielded from the majority of the traffic noise, although it did not have the views of the Temple of Zeus. We had a private balcony and the room was clean and modern. The staff were helpful and the Wedding Reception service could not be faulted - food was great and the staff were present but unobtrusive. My only complaint (in common with other European hotels) was that the hot breakfast buffet was lukewarm but there was a great selection. I would definitely choose this hotel again on a return visit.
