“Good breakfast and amazing dinner view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Te hotel is located downtown in an area not recommended for walking at night, enjoy by day and evening time. Rooms are clean and cover the novotel standards, don't expect something different, but every night at the swimming pool area, is closed for dinner time, you can enjoy chef's reco and Greek menu looking at the Acropolis!

This is a better than average Novotel. It is close to a reasonable 24 hour restaurant and is a ten minute walk for the hop on hop off bus. The hotel has a pool and dining area on the roof which would be excellent in summer. As it is the view from the roof is worth staying here for.

Looked great. Good travel link, on red line. Rooms had no air con which kinda let it down but not an issue as windows open. The view from the roof is one of the best in Athens! Staff were great and all spoke english - would 100% recommend.

We recently stayed in Novotel Athens hotel. We traveled with two children and booked very nice apartment. Our room was very comfortable and clean like in other Novotel hotels. I can say that staff at the reception desk was very professional and friendly. Service in the restaurant was also excellent and we really enjoyed having also dinner with children in hotel restaurant.
The location of the hotel is practically in the city center, but this area of the city around Omonia square looks pretty deserted and abandoned. Practically, especially in the evening, taxi should be used to return to the hotel.

The hotel is located in a working-class area of Athens with a lot of immigrants. There are police patrols, so, the area is not a complete nightmare. Street lights are not very bright and you should not walk around at night unless you know where you're going. During the day the hotel is fine.

The hotel is easy to access from the subway. Take the blue subway line 2 to Larissa station and, then, take the Philadelphia exit. Walk for about 8 minutes to turn right onto Michail Voda and walk 2 stop lights south to reach the hotel. The hotel is on the same subway line as the Acropolis and other tourist attractions. The National Archaeological Museum is a 10-minute walk from the hotel and dead easy to find.

The room was clean and large. Our floor was non-smoking but we sometimes we smelt smoke in the hallway. Our room, however, never smelt smoky.

Free WiFi is offered everywhere in the hotel and there's even an interactive-video game in the hallway in front of the elevators. The gift shop had a good selection of postcards, books, clothing (t-shirts, dresses, scarves, etc.) and souvenirs (vases, keychains and mugs) for very reasonable prices.

In general, there was a good selection available for the buffet breakfast, which included pastries (mini croissants and mini pains au chocolat and Greek sweets (kourambiedes and koulourakia)), toast, eggs, coffee (was quite good), tea, hot and cold milk, cereal, cheeses, cold cuts, bacon, etc. Would have appreciated more fresh fruit or a fruit salad. They only offered canned peaches and pineapple.

We had dinner there one night and it was ok. Found it to be a bit pricey at around €30 for a main course and salad with a beer and a large bottle of water.

The staff are quite friendly and helpful. They really try their best to make your stay enjoyable and don't hesitate to help you book tours, look up opening hours of museums, offer advice on places to visit in and around Athens, etc.

There is a fabulous, family-run seafood restaurant near the church close to the hotel. We had 2 great meals there and are still dreaming about the fresh, grilled fish and calamari they served.

Book a few weeks in advance to obtain a good room rate with buffet breakfast included. Note: pre-paying means no modifications or cancellations are permitted.
