I have stayed in many different hotels in this city, as being a frequent traveller to Athens. I must say the service is super friendly in this hotel. Service is comparable with the Athens Hilton, but it seems more natural here. The hotel is well maintained. A bit strange design. Sometimes very traditional, sometimes very surprising and modern. The top floor restaurant, with a great view over the city, is a kind of "fairy tale" design. Food is good, breakfast also. Several restaurants are available.
The hotel is located on the upside of a hill, in a residential area, with a great view over the city. In front of the hotel is a park, which is great when you travel with kids. City is about a 20 minute walk downhill. While walking you pass hundreds of shops, which makes it a pleasant walk. On your way back you better take a taxi (they are cheap in Athens).
Now the rooms. I am staying in hotels for about 80 nights a year, but this was the smallest room i ever had. It must have been a challange to get the furniture in. Everything a 5 start hotel requires is in the room, including mini bar. The house keeping service is great. They check your room frequently during the day. Please ask for an Acropolis view, otherwise you have a view which you most probably also have in prison.
Conclusion: This hotel earns a second place in my personal list of Athens hotels. The Hilton stays number one by far. But that hotel can be extremely expensive. The Saint George gave me a comfortable and warm feeling of a boutique hotel, just the rooms are very small.

Stayed in August 2002 and August 2003. Hotel very nice, upscale area, first time we had the inside view of the walls. Breakfast was very good but expensive. Second stay had two connecting rooms with balcony facing Acropolis. The staff was extremely helpful but we are Greek so that may have had something to do with it. Overall this is a very nice hotel but too expensive for what you get. My family and I will not be staying there again this summer as it is too far from the main shopping area on Ermou. One very big reason is the hike up the hill and steps after a long day of shopping or sightseeing especially in the heat! Also, our children were aged 10 and 12 and we had to get a second room as they had no family rooms. This ofcourse added greatly to the price.

Well, we've stayed in this hotel a number of times over the last 2 years. In my opinion the quality, service and overall experience has severely deteriorated.

For our last trip over New Year 04 we booked via Expedia and selected an executive room.

On arrival we were put in probably the smallest room available on the 1st floor over the main entrance and opposite the lift. We made the desk aware that this was not the type of room we booked. Initially they said that they couldn't move us to an executive room as the hotel was fully booked. Later, however, they insisted that it was an executive room!!!!!

Service depends on who is working at the time. We are still waiting for a wine cooler!!

The only positive aspect of the hotel is its location, in trendy Kolonaki, and its Acropolis views

I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Athens and dont want to pay Grand Bretagne rates. Located in the center- lively and rich area - amazing Acropolis view .The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are not very big but practical.Swimming pool and breakfast on the top floor are worth a visit. Try the restaurants if you have time or else the area is full of trendy restos and bars. I was there for the third time this year and definitely go back.

I have stayed at this hotel before and this time I was impressed by how much it has changed during the last couple of years! Rooms and bathrooms are renovated and I could notice more attention to detail and service. The view of the Acropolis remains the best in town-just make sure to ask for an Acropolis facing room during booking-it is a bit more pricey but absolutely worth it. The chic kolonaki area is 5 minutes away with nice shops, restaurants, bars etc but I also enjoyed the restaurants of the hotel -the one of the top floor has amazing view and breakfast is also served there and during the night is transformed into fine-dining. The lounge-bar on the ground floor was very hip and with nice crowd. I have been told a spa will be operating in the next following months and during summer the roof swimming pool is a must-you are lucky if you can go there on a weekday cos weekends it is a bit crowded . I find this hotel an extremely good value for money if you are visiting Athens.
