I have stayed in many different hotels in this city, as being a frequent traveller to Athens. I must say the service is super friendly in this hotel. Service is comparable with the Athens Hilton, but it seems more natural here. The hotel is well maintained. A bit strange design. Sometimes very traditional, sometimes very surprising and modern. The top floor restaurant, with a great view over the city, is a kind of "fairy tale" design. Food is good, breakfast also. Several restaurants are available.
The hotel is located on the upside of a hill, in a residential area, with a great view over the city. In front of the hotel is a park, which is great when you travel with kids. City is about a 20 minute walk downhill. While walking you pass hundreds of shops, which makes it a pleasant walk. On your way back you better take a taxi (they are cheap in Athens).
Now the rooms. I am staying in hotels for about 80 nights a year, but this was the smallest room i ever had. It must have been a challange to get the furniture in. Everything a 5 start hotel requires is in the room, including mini bar. The house keeping service is great. They check your room frequently during the day. Please ask for an Acropolis view, otherwise you have a view which you most probably also have in prison.
Conclusion: This hotel earns a second place in my personal list of Athens hotels. The Hilton stays number one by far. But that hotel can be extremely expensive. The Saint George gave me a comfortable and warm feeling of a boutique hotel, just the rooms are very small.
