I arranged a conference in Athens and needed a suitable hotel to host our guests. The conference center recommended the St. George and I could not have been luckier than to put up our guests here. The hotel was always kind, easy to work with, and never made a mistake (which was wonderful when I had several last minute changes). I was fortunate enough to also stay at this hotel as well as the conference guests and I can state personally that it is one of my favorite hotels. I will warn you, however, the food is expensive, but that is the case across Athens, unfortunately.

The staff is friendly, helpful, and just delightful. They asked if I was enjoying my stay not so much for their own delight in hearing my affirmative answer but more so that they can see if there was anything they needed to improve on. .

The only negative: no free Internet access. A hotel of this caliber really should grant complimentary wifi; I had to buy 24-hour access cards at a rate of 14 Euros each.

  • Liked — The friendliness of the staff.
  • Disliked — No free Internet connection; important when on a business trip.

My husband and I live in the northern Athens suburbs. We often take weekends away and, whenever we feel inclined to really enjoy our own city, we book at the St George Lycabettus for 2 or 3 nights.
We have done so 5 or 6 times in the last couple of years. Every single time we left fully satisfied with our stay.

To us, the hotel's strong point is its location, right in the heart of the city and yet in a relatively quiet area. Easy access by foot just about everywhere, whether we choose to shop, dine out or go clubbing.
We always ask for a room facing the Acropolis, they always give us one. Having stayed in several different rooms, we have noticed that the decor varies in style, always very tasteful.
Rooms are spotlessly clean and very well equipped, the personnel provides excellent service, the brakfast buffet offers a large variety to satisfy any taste.
We have dined and/or had drinks at "Frame" several times in the past and we did so again. The place has been redecorated, the new decor really striking and the food excellent.

In our opinion it is a great place to stay in Athens, at much more reasonable prices than other downtown hotels charge. We always recommend it to friends from out of town or from abroad and we will definitely be back ourselves.

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Saint George Lycabettus Hotel during a visit to Greek friends.
The location of the hotel is perfect, on a hill in front of the Acropolis (don't forget to book a room with view) and offers a breathtaking view night&day.
If you don't bother to walk, you can get to the Acropolis on foot by strolling through the lively Kolonakis' district , where you shouldn't miss a dinner or at least an aperitif in one of its numerous street cafes.
The room we stayed in was not really big, but we didn't spend too long in there anyway. The balcony with its view was great.
Breakfast and dinner are served at the roof restaurant (great view too) that unfortunately is not used as a bar - you can only have a drink at the one in the lobby, without view and too narrow if you are not a smoker.

The breakfast was amazing both for quality and variety, unfortunately no real separation between the smoking area and the other.

The only things we didn't really enjoy during our stay were the cleaning staff too loud in the mornings and the fact that we have been disturbed twice in the same evening (despite the DND sign at the door) to be questioned about the taxi for the next day.

All in all, it was a good stay and when back to Athens, we will likely book the same hotel.

This is a pleasant hotel in a contemporary style perched on a hill above the leafy streets of Kolonaki. There's good access from here to the swanky shops and bars of Kolonaki, as well as to the pretty church atop Lycabettus Hill.

Inside the hotel, the higher-rate rooms have truly jaw-dropping views of the Acropolis, though they are very much on the small side for this price-range. The facilities are generally good, particularly the summer roof-pool and the downstairs Frame bar (a retro whitewash), although the top-floor restaurant has mediocre food at telephone-number prices.

The service is a real strong point, and the staff -- particularly at the concierge -- are very helpful and do their best to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. Service is much more personable than at other major hotels in Athens, such as the Hilton. Ever one to be suckered by gimmicks, I like the nice touches here, such as the chocolates on your pillow, rose petals on the bed, and dumbells in the bathroom.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel, especially the Acropolis-view rooms.

The hotel was better than I expected. Although the hotel is located in a hilly area it was not a problem for me. The room I had faced the Acropolis and was above average size and very neat and quiet. The restaurant on the 6th floor had an excellent view and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I also had a massage which was great. I would have given an overall rating of excellent but as with other 5* hotels in Athens smoking in the restaurants and bar are the main negative feature. I will stay again when I visit Athens next.
