This hotel is a chic destination spot in Athens. As a result the staff are beyond arrogant and have attitudes that make any interaction with them highly unpleasant and disagreeable. As a reviewer below noted, the front desk woman is just horrendous with a snarly personality. In addition, simple requests, like more soap or extra pillows, are fulfilled begrudgingly.

The gym and pool are very nice, but you have to pay to use them.

There are many hotel choices in Athens and one is well advised to avoid this one.

We stayed at the Athens Hilton the first 3 nights of our honeymoon in Greece. I am a diamond member of Hilton so we redeemed some of my points for our stay, but what we didn't expect was an upgraded room upon arrival because we were on our honeymoon. They sent up champagne and fruit within 15 minutes of our arrival, and the room was spacious, immaculate, and had a beautiful view from the balcony of the Acropolis. We couldn't believe how quiet the room was when we closed the balcony doors (when they were open, you could hear the sounds of a very busy intersection, but they obviously had some decent soundproofing!). Bathroom was gorgeous and the bed was very comfortable. The bellman was so helpful, giving us tips of where to go for dinner and getting us cabs. The club level breakfast, complimentary with our stay, was ok - nothing fabulous, but it definitely filled us up for a good day of siteseeing. Lobby was modern, perfectly clean, and the concierge helpful in getting us where we wanted to go on our adventures for the days. The Byzantine restaurant was delicious, but overpriced and a little stuffy for us - although the service was impeccable. We would absolutely stay at the Athens Hilton again should we ever find ourselves in Greece again. It was the perfect start to a fabulous honeymoon!

Away from downtown: the Acropolis and Plaka though not very far;; but lets you escape the mass of tourists who only have one day in the city.

We stayed here on my HHonors Diamond points and it is a solid international Hilton. However, we left my computer power cord when we left for the Peloponnese and the housekeeper was good about saving it but the Front Desk lady we dealt with to get it back was a total b1tch.

They did a renovation which was very well done, spared no expense and it is obvious that Athenians still view this as one of the places to be for important gatherings based on the number of these that we saw coming in for soirées at the hotel.

My recommendation is that if it's a matter of more than a $20 rent differential, stay here, otherwise spend the extra $20 and go to the Grande Bretagne. DO consider that SPG gives only room upgrades while HHonors hooks you up with all kinds of free things like cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and full breakfast service which can make a big difference.
