“Great hotel, perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

My wife and I are so glad we decided to stay at the Hotel Grande Bretange for our honeymoon. The location is perfect and the hotel is immaculate. The private patio overlooking Syntagma Square and the acropolis was amazing. The staff showed us the best walking routes for exploring the city, and we really enjoyed our time in Athens. The restaurant has some of the best food in town, and it was our favorite breakfast of the entire trip. Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded and welcomed with champagne!

The feel and luxury of a bygone era surround you when you enter the spacious and luxurious lobby. The rooms are not large, but well appointed and the bathrooms have all the niceties. The location is ideal, with rooms viewing the Acropolis, walking distance to the plaka and great restaurants all around. Definitely worth the extra cost.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to get a higher room on the side that has views of The Acropolis.

This is a great hotel. We stayed on the butler floor with a view of the acropolis and square.

The rooms were large and well appointed, the staff were all very helpful.

The pool area was small and very busy in July so we only used it once.

But, the roof top restaurant was fantastic. We ate there on both nights of our stay. It was heavily booked so we took 630pm bookings as we hadn't adjusted to the timezone anyway.

The gym was small but functional.

The hotel organised a brilliant 4 hour site seeing trip with a van and tour guide.

It pays to have plenty of Euros as everybody outside the hotel in Athens seemed to want cash.

Room Tip: I recommend the butlers floor on level 6 with a view of the acropolis. Great views and very little s...

The location of this hotel made it the perfect choice for our introduction to Athens. We were just steps from the Plaka and Constitution Square. The city was vibrant, but very safe for two females traveling alone. The rooftop lounge was a highlight and breakfast was beautifully done. The night view of the Acropolis from the bar is breathtaking and I had the best drink EVER (Tears of Chios). My daughter's daiquiri was also the best she had, and it was a joy to watch the expert technique of the bartenders. We also scheduled a private tour of the nearby historic areas which really brought Greece to life for us. The Bretagne was our first stop on the trip of a lifetime and really set the tone for a memorable vacation.

Great city hotel, probably the best in Athens. Among the highlights; 1) the rooms with the Acropolis views (We could have sat out on our balcony all night), 2) the rooftop restaurant/bar had the most amazing views and the food was wonderful, 3) the rooftop pool. I don't know how they managed to wedge this in, but its an amazing respite from the Athens craziness. It's small, but I did not expect anything like this. Go up there in the heat of the day, have a drink and some lunch. It's great.

Overall, great service, fabulous location. Nice rooms.

Beautifu hotel, with an old world charm and fantastically located within walking distance of most major tourist attractions. The premium room was well appointed with a good view of the parliament.

The front desk service could have been better... The ladies just seemed to be going through the motions. However, we had a fantastic experience with the concierge Dimitris who was very engaging and patient with us as we sought suggestions on places to see and things to do in the area and also with restaurant recommendations.

We stayed for just one night and unfortunately couldn't check out the bar or restaurants at the hotel.
