This hotel is incredibly welcoming and the epitome of hospitality. Every request was promptly fulfilled. We were upgraded to a suite and while it was an inside room, with only a view of the courtyard perhaps that was best since Syntagma Square was extremely busy with concerts and a road race and other activities during our stay. Having a drink at sundown at the rooftop bar overlooking the Acropolis was absolutely breathtaking. This quickly became a daily activity.
The hotel has special private butlers/concierges for certain floors and guests in suites. This made the stay like a boutique hotel. The butler staff was excellent with their recommendations of restaurants, booking a guide and helping with a car rental. The staff was wonderful and by the end we felt like we were friends with all of them. (Perhaps that says more about us than them.)
The suite was spacious with a separate sitting room and bedroom. The bathroom was extremely large with a soaking tub and a separate shower. Hypo-allergenic pillows were provided upon request and the hotel has a pillow menu.
Anyway, the Hotel Grande Bretagne is one of the finest hotels that I've ever stayed in and is certainly first class.
