“Amazing Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

This is one of my favourite museum and a must see while in Athens. There are tons of roman statues, lots of history on Mycenean culture and lots more. There is also a beautiful cafe with a nice courtyard to sit for a while.
Only problem with the courtyard, it was filled with smokers.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

I would rate this as one of the best of its type in the world. It is a must see museum, and its probably best to visit before you go to the Acropolis. That is because there are models of the major phases that have occurred, plus a very good video that runs constantly, simply changing the language.

The only small irritation is that photos are allowed in only some areas, and these are hard to identify, but if you get your camera out in the wrong area, you will very quickly be pounced upon.

“A must! Do not miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

This museum is the most important museum in the world (of its kind).
Hosts antiquities from all over Greece. (Prehistory and on).
You visit the museum and cannot believe the brilliant exhibits that are dating even
from the eleventh century BC!!!
Very impressive!

“A must see in Athens!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

After reading in Trip Adisor that this is one of the top places to visit in Athens we went along. The advantage is that the hop-on-off buss stops here, so even if it appears to be out of the way on the map, it's worth the effort getting there!
The quality of the exhbits are superb. It is open until 7pm during summer months so this makes it an ideal late afternoon visit, as it is quiet and one can linger without interruption.
One of the best museums to visit........... even after days of archeological sights!
