“Not much left to see...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Compared to the Acropolis or Heaphastion, there's not much left to see in the Agora; would probably worth an effort of filling the gap with a multimedia with some kind of digital reconstitution?

“Roman Agora or Ancient Agora - both excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Both the Roman and Ancient Agoras are included in the museum ticket, and both are excellent. Leave enough time to wander around and take it all in - at least an hour per site.

“a trip to the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

great testimony of the Roman domination times. Excellent restorations and reconstruction/recreations of the original buildings, sculptures and other interesting stuff. Be sure to take a bottle of water with you if you plan to visit by noon or early afternoon during spring/summer and even autumm, as it gets very hot in the open areas under the sun. Also, always wear comfortable shoes to be able to enjoy the whole agora.

“Amazing Agora”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

The Ancient Agora is a really great place to visit and is included in the same ticket as the Acropolis and other sites. The completely rebuilt "Stoa" (see photo) is astonishing and contains wonderful statues.
Immediately opposite is an outstanding Taverna called Moma (the photo has been taken from its terrace) which has excellent food and service and the wonderful view (ancient & modern - with the Agora behind the Metro line!)

“Another must in Athens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

There are a number of entrances depending on which direction you're coming from, but once inside make first for the excellent museum in the reconstructed Stoa. This gives you an understanding of the history of the site so when you subsequently walk around you have an idea of what you are looking at. All credit to the Greek government for their careful preservation of this and so many other archaeological sites in Athens - this is a busy city. Please don't expect to travel around by private car (previous review) - the metro is superb and there's lots of taxis at reasonable prices! Indeed around the Agora there are many pavement restaurants with no cars - excellent!
