“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We had wanted to come here for ages and finally did it.
It is so much bigger than we thought, it's massive. There are lots of people so really it's best to come early to avoid the crowds. Thee are lots of grounds and gardens, you can see the old agora, other buildings and the museum.
It gets hot so bring water and wear a hat.
You could spend all day here and still not see it all.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

I found the Acropolis every bit as stunning as I expected.

We made two visits to it in our time in Athens. The first time, we took a private guide, who was expensive, but who inspired my son with her knowledge of Greek history and mythology. This really brought the visit to life!

We then visited at 8:10 in the morning, just before we flew out. The Acropolis had been very crowded on our first visit - on this one it was almost empty. It was beautiful, and very atmospheric.

“You can't really come to Athens and not see it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

It's difficult not to be impressed by the amount of effort expended to create everything in the Acropolis and the views of the city are fantastic. I'd recommend going early to avoid massive crowds and tour groups.

Keep your ticket to the Parthenon as it lets you into the Agora, which is pretty interesting and leads you round to Plaka - the main touristy market area.

“Amazing walk through history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Amazing historical site in the middle of bustling Athens. A short walk up the hill, puts you in the middle of ancient Greece. Despite the active restoration - unfettered views of the parthenon are easy to obtain.

“Breathtaking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Despite being a perpetual "building site" the Acropolis is absolutely stunning. A huge amount of restoration work is going on and will continue for some years to come for sure but don't be put off. The cranes and machines somehow add to the awesome story of the acropolis and it's evolution over the millennia. It's an absolutely must view for any visitor to Athens...it IS Athens! Enjoy!
