“In the middle of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

This hotel is in the middle of the Plaka area and within walking distance of most of the ancient areas in Athens. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The roof top bar and sitting area has a wonderful view of the Acropolis. There also lounge chairs for getting a few rays in the afternoon. All in all a great place to stay Athens.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a view of the Acropolis.

I've been at the Plaka hotel in January. Its position is the best to visit Athen. 20 mins far from the Acropolis, and 5 mins from the center. I got there from the airport directly with the metro: really comfortable.
The room was really clean, with the right temperature inside.
The breakfast was of a good level, both for variety and for quantity.
I suggest to choose this hotel!!

The hotel is in a very run down area, but it is within walking distance to all the sights.
The staff is pleasant enough, but not at all really helpful.
The fruit basket with wine and water was a very nice touch.
Do not book this hotel if you have a car, getting into the hotel and then to the parking garage is almost impossible.
Breakfast is fine, but the room is way too small for the size of the hotel.

My sister & I made a return trip to the Plaka Hotel at the end of April, having previously stayed there 24 years ago when we were both younger (& single!). It still has one of the best positions in Athens, a fabulous roof top terrace, an excellent buffet breakfast and caring staff. Not much has changed really, except for the quality of the rooms which have improved immensely from when we were on tighter budgets! We were also quite taken back with the lovely 'Welcome Back!' food & wine tray we received. We did upgrade to an Acropolis view room for our last night and couldn't have been happier. What a glorious sight to fall asleep to! Thanks to all!

We chose the Hotel Plaka for the end of our vacation in Greece. It was centrally located, extremely helpful staff, wonderful room, clean.... we loved the roof terrace with it's view of the Acropolis - especially at night!

This hotel must have one of the best locations in Athens. It is just on the edge of the Plaka. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable Breakfast is buffet style and had a hot option. You MUST have a drink on the roof garden at night. The view of the Acropolis is amazing

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Travelled with my wife and 14-year-old son and stayed for 6 nights (well actually it turned out to be 5 nights as the hotel switched us to a sister hotel for the first night but they gave us this night for free so no harm done).

The hotel has a fantastic location near the Plaka, Roman Agora, Monastaraki and just a short and pleasant walk from the Acropolis. For the price it is fantastic. The breakfast buffet is really good, you even get to eat baklavas and tiramisu first thing in the morning if you want to! (my son did)

The breakfast staff are lovely, especially Stella, who looks like Mila Kunis! Reception staff were fine and the cleaning staff really nice.

Rooftop terrace is great for a spot of sunbathing and taking a few photos. You can bring your own drinks up there before 1730 each day, or whenever the bar opens.

All in all a great stay.
