“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

I stayed here in May 2014 with my girlfriend. This hotel is in an excellent location; it is a 10-15 minute walk from most of the big historical sights and there are lots of cafes and bars close by. It is also right beside Ermou Street; the main shopping street in Athens.
It was a bit noisy at night though with the traffic. The room was quite spacious with plenty of drawers for bits and pieces. A clean and comfortable place.

I just loved this hotel. Perfect perfect perfect!!!! First of all it's location is perfect, it is right in the heart of Athens and you can go everywhere by foot. Metro station is just 2 minutes walk. It is also very quite even though it is right in the center. Rooms are big, comfy, beautifull and very very elegant !!!! Staff was very very friendly and kind and they make sure you feel like home. Breakfast was also very good. I was very impressed by this hotel. It is beyond perfect and i will definetly stay there again and again. Absolutely Diamond!!!

Many of the other reviews on this site have referred to the high quality of the Athens Diamond and they are accurate. The hotel is nestled in an ideal location to great restaurants, Syntagma Square (one block away), access to cabs, metro and bus lines, shopping and nightlife (Ermou Street) – all situated a hop, skip and a jump from the Plaka. The rooms are uniquely decorated with attention to every detail. It was quiet even though in the heart of the city! The bed was amazing. The bathroom was large, with 2 sinks, plenty of very hot water hot with 4 nozzle sprays at different levels. The free wifi in the room was a plus.

Georgia (housekeeping) was superb! She brought me an electric kettle within minutes of my arrival for making tea/coffee in my room (didn’t even have to ask; she must have read my mind). The free breakfast was delightful, with fresh-squeezed orange juice (make your own or they will make it for you and bring it to your table), excellent coffee, meats, cheeses, eggs, breads…the kitchen staff/attendants are meticulous and do an excellent job in this area.

The reception staff – well, I saved the best for last. From the minute I arrived to the moment I left, I was attended to no matter my query or need. Ioannis was on duty when I arrived – I was greeted with a big smile as he addressed me by my name (my email stated I would be arriving early). Throughout the week I was there we had multiple conversations, during which he spoke of not only how to get around Athens, where to get a good massage, and where the best restaurants were, but of Greek history, culture, and society -- which enriched my stay and gave me a deeper understanding of the country and its people. Margarita was also incredibly helpful with directions, restaurant suggestions, and went out of her way to find me a hotel in Santorini Island (for a discounted price) -- which turned out to be fantastic! She has expertise in Santorini and was able to tell me much about the Island before I got there. Ioannis gave me a geology lesson as well!

Hotel reception personnel are expected to be cordial, yes, but the Athens Diamond’s reception staff members Ioannis and Margarita go beyond that. They are highly skilled in hospitality. (Note: I did not get to know any of the other reception staff so I cannot comment on them). They served as guides, cultural interpreters, and at time language teachers, ushering me into a new and different culture with ease, grace and warmth. Iaonnis and Margarita are incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable and stopped at nothing to provide the best service possible during my stay. At the end I felt I had not just “visited” Athens, but that I was a welcomed guest in a beautiful home inhabited by the loveliest people you could imagine. I simply did not want to leave.

The Athens Diamond in situated in the perfect location for great restaurants, sight-seeing, people watching, and day excursions. It is an excellent option for the price, quality, and above all -- customer care.

Athens Diamond Hotel is one of my favourite hotels I have stayed in while travelling through Europe. The rooms are adequate in size and very nicely decorated, the free wifi is very helpful to contact family back home and the location is very central and convenient. However, the thing that makes this hotel so great is the exceptional customer service! The reception staff all spoke perfect English, and were always helpful with our bags etc. One lovely touch, is the complimentary bottled water in the room - Everywhere else I was paying up to €5 for a bottle of water! This hotel seems to genuinely care for their guests, which is truly lovely when you're so far away from home.

Located in syntagma with variety of shops and restaurant nearby. Convenient airport bus x95 at the square. Would be good if there is more variety of food for breakfast. Connectivity of the free wi-fi can be better improved as well. But overall still a comfortable stay..

In all aspects it is a great choice. Location is perfect, close to everything but on a quiet street. It is just a couple of blocks from Syntagma squire with subway station and airport shuttle bus stop. It is also within about 15 min walk to Akropolis.
We stayed in suite on second floor, it was of a decent size, with a little balcony. Rooms were nicely decorated, very clean, beds were good. They provided us with sleeping robes and slippers. Service was great. Receptionist Anna was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Breakfast wasn't the best we had in Greece but it was fresh and tasteful with yogurt (local must have), some hot meal like omelets, cereal, pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice
