Negative:
- Small rooms
- Some small things needed repair (water tap, flush toilet)
- Dim lights on the bathroom
- Ugly neighborhood (as almost all Athens)

Positive:
+ Very comfortable, carpeted, bedroom
+ All the hotel was very clean
+ Excellent staff
+ Very close to the Metro Station
+ Nice (and cheap) restaurants nearby

We began our honeymoon in Athens and Athens lotus hotel was our first hotel in the string of cities we would visit. It is away from the touristy areas but very near the metro so that made travelling easy and nearly accessible to anywhere. Cabs are also readily available.

The room was adequately large for european standards, we had a comfortable 3 night stay and delicious breakfasts awaited us everyday. Loved the greek yogurt best! One grouse though, they were usually shorthanded during breakfast and the table mats were barely cleaned. No hot water or kettles are available in the room as well but they were easily gotten in the breakfast area.

The supermart was so near, good for stocking up on supplies.

Room Tip: We were given those at the back wing.

There are two things that I am adamant about when I travel - a clean hotel and a comfortable hotel. Those things seem to trump almost everything else. Athens Lotus delivered just that. Yes - the rooms were small compared to what I am used to in the states, and yes - the bathrooms were even smaller, but - that's where the term "boutique hotel" comes from. One cannot expect the massiveness that they would get from a regular hotel, I find it quite charming.

I almost never sleep well at least my first night in a hotel, here, I sleep like a baby every night and every nap we took. The air conditioning was quiet and comfortable and the showers were nice and hot. The breakfast in the morning was perfect to get our day started and the gentleman at the reception desk during the days was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were so clean, I never once felt the need to pull out my Lysol or got the itches thinking about how dirty it could be.

The area...eh. The hotel can't help where it's at. There's culture enriched in the building - don't let the area be what keeps you away. It's completely safe during the day and probably not terrible at night. But cabs are so cheap - less than 10 euro from the acropolis area with tip - so use them at night and you're fine. We walked all over just fine - if you've traveled to other areas of the world, an area like this you can expect to walk.

Would definitely recommend, after a long day of walking and sightseeing, you'll definitely sleep well.

I am so sick of the dopes that say "This is not a four star hotel!" The four stars on trip advisor means "very good". Okay, done with the rant, now about this hotel. It was very good for the price. It was clean, the beds were good, the breakfast was good and the staff were lovely. Our room was not small at all and the bathroom was not small. Yes the TV was small but I am in Athens! I did not come here to watch TV! Yes, it is mostly in Greek but most TV in the U.S. is in English. We opened the window and yes it was noisy (we kind of like that type of noise) but once you closed the window it was quiet. Now for the neighborhood. It is perfectly fine. You walk out the front door and turn right and in one short block you see the metro stairs on your right. There are old Greek guys sitting and smoking on your left with their worry beads. I kinda felt safe with them there. They had their eye on us at all times. Go down the stairs, you will see the ticket stand right there and you can change the machine to English and buy your metro tickets. You validate it before you go downstairs by putting it in the little machine. So easy and no one bothered us. We came back late two nights after eleven and felt fine but we were sober and alert. This place is full of people commuting during the day and it felt safe to us. The neighborhood is like EVERY neighborhood in Greece. This is a big city, like NY or LA. It is packed and close together and yes there is graffiti but regular people live here. Don't listen to those people that are afraid. Keep your wits about you and you will be perfectly fine. This was a great place to stay for a great price.

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and were very happy with all aspects of our stay. While the hotel is a little bit away from the city centre, not that Athens really has one of those anyway, the district is ok once you get the feel for it. Don't judge the area on face value, most of Athens looks the same, a little on the untidy side. The area was safe and easy to navigate by public transport or taxis, which are quite cheap. The cost/value was excellent, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was modern with a nice balcony, clean with a comfortable bed. The Wifi was however average in the room but fine in the lobby . The hotel serves an affordable breakfast with good food but not dinner. There are not many good restaurants close by although we found a couple of 'ok ones'. There are some local bars which had plenty of character and friendly people. You can get to places like the Plaka (cab) or Syntagma Square (metro) easily for food as they have some great eateries but give Omonia Square a miss for food. We only had trouble with cabs on 2 occasions. The guys at the Plaka wanted a set fare for a ride to one of the tourist sites and another short changed us by 5 Euros. But there is a metro 2 minutes walk from the hotel and tour operators pick up from the Stanley Hotel which is 3 minutes walk from this hotel.

This hotel definitely worth more than the value we paid for. Throughout our search online, the prices in Athens are generally expensive and this hotel is below average. Even we hesitated, the photos and reviews are great so we booked it. This is the best decision! The room is clean and modern decorated, just like the photos. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is spacious. On top of that, it's a 3mins walk to the Metro station. Not sure why they have such a good deals, and not sure why there were some negative reviews. We will definitely pick this place when we visit Athens again.

We were here for three nights and we liked it here. We had a nice, comfy room with a really nice, clean bathroom (I always think that is one of the most important things in a room).
And they have a good american breakfast in the morning before you hit the streets.
It is not located right in the middle of the city center, but really close to a Metro station, so it is pretty central after all, and a bit cheaper than "down town". I would deffinetly recomend this hotel with the excellent staff to everyone! We liked it here :)
