“Brilliant Little Temple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Sure, the Parthenon is the must-see site in ancient Athens, but I liked the Temple of Hephaestus almost as much. It's much more complete than the Parthenon, and it's surrounded by woodland and gardens, which makes it feel very atmospheric.

I strongly recommend visiting it at the same time that you go to the Acropolis!

“Better than the Parthenon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

It is in an amazing state of preservation with so much of the detail that the Parthenon lost in the unfortunate explosion in the 16th century

Better than the pictures of it I'd always seen and not enough time to just walk about and enjoy it....so much to see...

“Beautiful Temple!”

Well preserved 5th c. BC temple in the ancient Agora. Not crowded and great view of the Agora and the Stoa of Attalos.

“Must see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

First glimpsed the temple from Parthenon. It is still intact and the best example anywhere. Spent time walking around it and touring the entire adjacent ancient Agora as well as the Museum to the east. More interesting than Pantheon itself.
