“Stayed for a night. Nice experience. Photos not fair though.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We stayed there for a night on the way to Koh Tao in our trip a couple of weeks ago.
The hotel is quite far from the area with most restaurant and shop (Chaweng).
The photos of the room also looked way nicer that what we saw over there. The room was quite simple with lot's of parts in concrete unfinished (maybe it's the trend there).
There beach area with the breakfast and an infinite pool is very nice. From the beach you can see a very nice budha statue on the horizon.
I would stay again if could get the same rate.

Room Tip: Choose your room as close to the beach as possible.

We have been visiting out daughter (who lives in Samui) for many years and have stayed at a variety of high end resorts. However Deva Hotel is by far the best and a beautiful luxury hotel. On this visit we will have been staying at the hotel for just over 2 months and therefore have really got to know it inside out. The staff are lovely, very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant serves delicious food in a romantic candle lit beach side restaurant. The room we have had is impeccable - very clean indeed, daily maid service and night time turn downs. The beach side pool is wonderful- set on a remote picturesque white sandy beach. The hotel has exceeded all our expectations and we have been made to feel like part of the Deva family. The management even surprised us with 4 complimentary spa treatments ( 1st class spa indeed) and a complimentary meal at the restaurant. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough and am amazed at the few negative reviews others have given it because in our experience nothing could be further from the truth. If you want a lovely relaxing beachside resort then stay at the Deva- you won't be disappointed!

I loved everything about this resort , from the welcome iced tea, to the free upgrade of a grande deluxe room to the tranquility and meandering streams , waterfalls and lily ponds to the fabulous pools ,2 super long ones and one endless pool beside the beach..breakfast was great and staff were most efficient and friendly. We stayed over Xmas and enjoyed a fabulous romantic buffet on the beach on Xmas eve..2 little chocolates were also placed on our bed on Xmas Eve making our stay very special. Unfortunately the location was a little bit isolated but still close to restaurants and a 10 min walk to convenience store. Beach is very attractive but shallow not too swimmable. We would love to return.

Room Tip: Grande deluxe is awesome..we chose a deluxe to start with and were upgraded.

i cannot see why all the negative reviews we found the staff charming and although their English wasnt 100 percent we didnt have an issue, you are in another country and should adjust to suit. the rooms were amazing and cleaned everyday , towels were changed and no issue at all. yes you are 10 minutes away from the CHAWENG but ist £6 in a taxi and there is one right opposite so no hardship , we loved the quiet area as we spent a day in CHAWENG on the beach and felt like we were on an 18-30S holiday in SPAIN was like being cattle all herded in, CHEONGMON was 5 minutes away and £4 in a taxi so even closer, yes you can rent a bike or just walk 5 minutes at the most up the road and jump the shared taxis running around the island it really isnt hard. local shops again just up the road with ATMs and the EASY resturant did amazing but cheap food
my wife always goes for somehwere next to the sea and with good swimming pools and infinities pools she loved them and she is fussy when it comes to this. the staff book all our trips and also teh SPA yes a little exspensive was brilliant and we were so relaxed after. yes you can pay 400BAHT to spend an hour with strangers where you can be seen but it was a romatic trip and just what the doctor ordered.
we also had the house shuttle bus which we used to the fishermans village which was about £8 for 2 of us and cannot see why people complain when they travel and spend money staying at a beautiful resort. we had everything peace and tranquility and within 10 minutues of where the nightlife and shopping was . the food was lovely in the resort a little expensive to what was in the street cafes but still cheap, breakfast was lovely and varied .
the bathrooms were huge lovely showers and baths a very good positive in my book and the bed was so comfy and large
we could walk to the Golden Buddha and also the Ferry Port within 10 minutes so ease of access was all very good. my advice dont listen to all the negative reviews its a MUST DO you wont be disappointed

Room Tip: choose the ones with pool access amazing

My standards are by no means unreasonable however, this resort is as bad as it comes. I have been to Thailand on numerous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed Thai hospitality. We are currently staying here- they were sweet to upgrade us upon arrival for free as it is our honeymoon. We have since been met with the most horrendously rude staff, both impatient and unhelpful (the lady on the line for room service hung up on us 4 times and grunted impolitely whenever we made a request.) Upon receiving the food, we noticed the burger patty was 90% raw, we didn't get one of the things we ordered and the other meal was completely cold. Absolutely no one speaks English, the towels and bath robes are old, completely stained and quite frankly disgusting and need to be replaced. The shower walls are riddled with stains and mould- not to mention the shower head which is covered in mould. We have a hot tub on our balcony which would be great except for the fact that the blinds which are intended to offer privacy are broken (and don't close) and the roof is so dusty that the bath becomes filled with dust within minutes.

We asked for advice about which restaurants to eat at and which attractions we might enjoy and staff were both completely disinterested and unwilling to advise us. We were put through to the manager to complain further about our shocking room service experience (after an hour of waiting for the call), and although he was somewhat apologetic, he offered us no compensation and was by no means accommodating.

All in all, I've never been so disappointed or shocked at the treatment by staff of guests and wish to make it perfectly clear that if you value a luxurious experience which offers value for money and a pleasant stay, DO. NOT. SET. FOOT. NEAR. THIS. HOTEL. Its dirty and unpleasant- honestly save your money and pitch a tent outside- it will probably be cleaner with better facilities.

This is my 5th time to Thailand, I've been lucky enough to travel all over and stay in accommodation ranging from budget backpackers, beach huts, jungle shacks and luxury accommodation and Deva samui has by far been the WORST experience I have ever had.

I booked the accommodation with deva samui direct on the internet, it clearly states on their website "no online payment" "you will make payment at the hotel". This is where the problems started. They took full payment of 8000thbt the next day from my account, without approval!

When we arrived at the hotel we were met by some very un-friendly receptionists, defiantly not the "land of smiles around here"! After check in we took most of our own luggage and were led around the back of the resort/ugly concrete jungle, to the staff area of the place and lugged our suitcases up 3 dingy, barely lit flights of stairs due to faulty lighting. (I'm by no means precious either I'm a landscaper from perth and used to manual labour but this is not what you expect on holiday).

We were shown in to our very hot room and first impression was ok, but as we had a chance to look around things got worse and worse. Besides the stains on the walls, peeling paint and faded cushion covers, we discovered probably the WORST VIEW IN KOH SAMUI out of our window, a massive power pole and cables looking over the balcony opposite, no wonder the blinds are shut in the photos on the website.

The toilet had URINE STAINS around it on the floor and some sort of BLACK MOULD happily growing on the floor of the shower.

The bed!! Pulling back the sheets to discover LONG BLACK HAIRS in the bed and under the pillows, obviously not been changed from the previous occupants!!! It gets worse. Pulling back the sheets to find a very old mattress full of URINE STAINS and god knows what the stains are on the PILLOWS, doesn't bare thinking about!

After all this needless to say we didn't want to stay there. The manager offered us a pool access room at an extra 4000tbht which we declined, and they refused any sort of refund, not even one night!!! Very rude and unhelpful!! Not my memory of the rest of Thailand at all!!

We didn't want this be the ruining of our holiday so we checked out immediately, which turned out to be the best thing we did. after our BAD EXPERIENCE at DEVA SAMUI, we though we'd splash out and try forget about it and we ended up at Akaryn resort. We had an amazing reception by everyone there and even got a discounted room price after they heard our story. We stayed there for 5nights and had they best I think I have ever had. We'll worth it!!

STAY WELL AWAY FROM DEVA SAMUI, their is better and cheaper accommodation nearer to chewang than this faulty towers.

Room Tip: STAY WELL AWAY from deva samui!!!
