“Very comfortable for business or holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Very, very comfortable room although it was not terribly large. My boyfriend was traveling for business and I was tagging along as a tourist. He had everything he needed to make his business all-nighter (before a big meeting) run smoothly, including tasty room service. The breakfast buffet was very nice. It's not located near all of the tourist sights but it's not a far cab ride away. It's not the best neighborhood for wandering but it's easy to find for cab drivers or if you have rented a car.

I've just spent the night here. After arriving at the Midi station on Eurostar, I got the no.4 metro to Rogier which brings you pretty much outside the hotel. Cost me Eur 89 on a Great Getaway rate for a King Guest room, and I was upgraded to a King Deluxe (as an HHonors Diamond.) Not as nice a hotel as I'd remembered from my previous visits. A bit lacking in features. No room service (although there is of course the hotel restaurant and a thousand options outside), breakfast was very ordinary, wifi frequently disconnected when I didn't want it to. Got a free bottle of water in the room. Bed was amazing. Bathroom small but nicely appointed. Ok stay, but far from memorable. A short walk to the Nord station, a 45 minute train journey to Antwerp Central, and now I'm sat in the lounge of the Hilton Antwerp supping a cold one! Much better.

Stayed here in April 2012, having booked in early January at a special offer rate of 90e a night advance purchase with the hotel direct.

We emailed the hotel in advance to advice them that (a) I am a wheelchair user, and so a room easily accessed would be appreciated, and (b) that we would not be arriving until approx 10.30pm on the Friday evening, so to please keep the easily accessed room for us.

Flight was good, train transfer worked however we had to wait for the pre-booked train and soon enough we arrived at Brussels Noord. The hotel was a short walk from the station, but in the dark it took us a little while to work out which side of the station we were on to be able to navigate our way via our pre-printed map.

At check-in we ere greeted by a very pleasant man, who had just come on duty on the evening shift. He started to check us in but stopped and explained that the room we were allocated was not easy to get in with my wheelchair (so much for my email!) so he would upgrade us to an easier accessed room on the 8th floor.

Room was small, almost tiny, and halfway down a corridor, which proved to be a problem each morning, as housekeeping parked their trolley up close by and it was impossible to pass with it there. We had to move it every morning, pass near the lifts and then put the trolley back - under the watchful and grumpy watch of the housekeeper. Each morning the same thing and each morning they parked in the same place after knowing we wouldnt be able to pass - so unhelpful and so rude.

Breakfast was like a school canteen and with no fresh/renewed stock, service a little brusque, however, the actual food was ok. Croissants were nice and fresh.

The location - a few mins from the main shopping street, approx 15 mins to the main square, 5 mins to Noord station - was good, however the lack of good restaurants in the area may be a problem if you dont want to venture far of an evening.

A beer (pint) and glass of coke cost just short of 15e - think it is cheaper in the minibar!
Didnt eat in hotel as the bar price had put us off.

The rest of the staff were ok, but again, not the usual standard of the Hilton and only the man who checked us in ever helped with the stair lift or even made eye contact.

Tried to get a late checkout as I had contracted a chest infection, and train was not till 6pm. Asked to stayed until 4pm and was quoted 50e an hour, asked about extending by another day - as this may be less than 200e - but was told we could only stay till 1pm anyway - so was not worth the 50e, we stayed in the lounge for a few hours, nipped to the shopping centre, came back, went to the loo (accessible loo in lounge area does not need key) then headed to station.

Would I stay here again? Not sure, only if a very good deal came up. Have since stayed at another hotel in Brussels which offered larger rooms, better service and friendly helpful staff so would prefer to stay there.

business feel to it. breakfast had a wide choice but they struggled to really replace key offerings (beans, eggs etc) in rush hour (9-10am). rooms were compact but clean, the shower pressure was good, the bath smaller than i have ever seen. 15 mins walk to grand place means location is fairly good, and the metro station Rogier which is just outside the hotel (then approx 20 mins on the metro to Heysel for Atomium tourist attraction). they offered one free drink voucher per guest at their bar which was a nice touch. the front desk did feel slightly understaffed at times which could be frustrating when requiring attention. mathijs on the front desk (afternoon/evening) was very courteous, friendly and great at his job, stefanie (morning) on the other hand i found to be almost dismissive or lacking interest in helping my query. She told me to visit the tourist office at 63 rue de la regence, which was a 25-30 mins walk from the hotel to find out more about a walking tour i had booked. when i arrived there the tourist office did not exist. this wasn't a great experience. think if you want to stay somewhere with relatively good location and decent (as opposed to luxury) this could be a good option, if you are able to find a good deal.

Excellent value on a 3 night break with breakfast, including Eurostar. The hotel is very well placed for Gare du Nord, metro, & buses including the hop on-hop off, and a 10 minute stroll into the old city through (mainly) pedestrianised shopping streets. Place de Rogier, the hotel outlook, is having remedial work currently, so the outlook is not the best at the moment. The area becomes a bit seedy after dark, although we were not threatened at all.
Break included the good breakfast, but we would not have paid E30 for it or indeed the E409 for the room that it says on the tariff. The room (325) was clean where it mattered although there were a few areas that had been habitually missed. Facilities were good and the reception staff were excellent without exception, some of the bar staff were surly & impolite however. The drinks were the usual inflated hotel prices, but the bar was a comfortable place to be.
The lifts have a peculiar security system & to use the public toilets there is a code (gained from reception), all to keep out undesirables. I do wish hotels would realise that if 2 are sharing a room, you generally BOTH want a shower & hair wash, so why do they only supply one set of toiletries?
We didn't eat there, and there are good restaurants round about. Generally it is fine for a short stay.

Room Tip: Side rooms may be slightly quieter rather than the front, because the emergency services are whizzin...

We travelled on a bargain weekend break and as such it was brilliant value for money. £169 for three nights Friday to Monday including a complimentary drink on arrival, full cooked breakfast and return Eurostar train from London St Pancras.

Having said that I would not have been happy paying the 409 Euros room rate with 30 Euro breakfast as advertised for that room on the back of the door. The room we were allocated was very clean with very comfortable beds although the windows were dirty outside and looked out onto other hotel widows about 4 metres away directly across the central 'open to air and light' utilities shaft of the Hotel. Coffee and Tea making facilities were available which we didn't use because of the usual problem of UHT or whatever other horrible excuse for milk that makes tea undrinkable, was provided, not a real complaint, it's ubiquitous.
The TV was a disappointment, I would have expected a later model flat screen job rather than the grotty CRT box although we did have a choice of three English speaking channels CNN, BBC 1 and BBC World News. Just the picture quality to whinge about. The room was starting to look tired and the Hotel was probably aproaching a makeover. There was a safe provided at no extra charge which we found useful and a fridge with mini bar at high extra charge but clearly marked prices so the choice is yours, we chose not to.
Two phones, one for each bed - hadn't come across that before (sheltered life) but they both worked to ring another room. Food at breakfast was great. loads of fruit cereals and cooked stuff, more than adequate and good quality teas with an enormous choice of types with fresh milk, superb. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.

They have a gym and sauna facilities which my friends used and liked. I didn't use them so can't comment.

The location at Rogier is perfect for the Du Norde station and easily walkable to Grande Place among other sights.and Rogier is ideal for other Bus Metro and tram connections

At the prices we paid I'd recommend it all day long and that is reflected in my value rating below.
My comments are purely against what appear to be their standard rates.
