“Tired hotel in good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed two nights on 20th December this year and found the hotel to be tired and in need of some serious TLC. One night the lights wouldn't come on at 2am, we called reception to find out the hotel had a power cut! Also the breakfast costs €25 each which is quite honestly ridiculous!!
Whilst the hotel is not the best, the location is very good with easy access to grand place and Christmas markets. I must also thank the reception staff as they were very friendly and assisted where needed.

Room Tip: If you want wifi it is free in the lobby but chargeable in the rooms.

We arrived in Brussels and found ourselves in a complete horrible hotel. We went looking for a new hotel and found the Sheraton. We were so delighted to find it, the reception was clean and the receptionist was exceptional. We negotiated a deal for two nights at a manager came out to speak to us during this negotiation. Basically we had fully paid for a real hell hole online (Queen Anne) and we now had the prospect of paying for another hotel and many hotels wouldn't care but the Sheraton did. They gave us a good rate, a lovely room. The 14th floor and we had a great view. Breakfast was lovely and all in all a really lovely hotel. Highly recommended

We booked the hotel at the last minutes and the rate was surprisingly low, it said deals on the booking site. So with lots of excitement since it is a well known excellent hotel, we checked in but the female receptionist that helped us could be friendlier. The room was on 8th floor and it was big but the wall, the closet and the floor were very outdated. The bed are very small, for two people on it was not pleasant at all. The bathroom was big enough, but there were molds everywhere. Last but not least, until past midnight we kept hearing the noise from the other rooms.
Our stay was not pleasant but for the price we paid it is still okay.
The positive side is that the bartender was very friendly and the male receptionist that helped us with checking out deserves a 100 points for his friendliness.

It's a decent business or weekend hotel, well located for many business areas of Brussels and about a 20 minute stroll to the main tourist areas. The rooms are OK but seem extremely dated and showing signs of wear and tear that is beyond the norm, suggesting a full refresh is needed. The breakfast room got very very busy when I was there in December. Well located for the Brussels Nord station which gives a direct link to both Brussels Midi for Eurostar, and the airport.

I had to stay in this hotel all my November business trip and after this time I consider this hotel as the worst from all Sheratons family I have ever stayed. It's very old, rooms are outdated. Breakfast very poor and terrible service. Tables are not cleaned at the morning so you have to be lucky to find free one. The waiters don't care at all about guests, no one asked for three weeks about drinking preferences etc. I even heard rude comment when customer ask about fork. I was very surprise because it's not usual for SPG chain.

Thank you, Bart G, for staying at the Sheraton Brussels hotel during your entire November business trip.
We are extremely disappointed to learn about your experience in our hotel and will assure you that your comments have received our full attention. All required follow up with the services concerned has taken place in order to share this unacceptable performance. We sincerely regret that your stay in Brussels has been spoiled due to this painful experience.
Furthermore, in the near future, we are setting up a deep room renovation planning and we will improve the air condition system.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you in a renovated room at the Sheraton Brussels Hotel in the future to spend a stay with high satisfaction.

I stayed here for 5 nights in October '14. It's a short walk from the train station, my room had decent water pressure, and there is a grocery store in the building. My room was tidy and quite large but it didn't feel as clean as the other hotel I stayed in Brussels on the same trip (Marriott Grand Place). The air conditioning did not work and my room was a bit steamy feeling. If I ever return to Brussels, I would stay in a hotel near the royal museums and the Grand Sablon, as it is much prettier and safer feeling with better choices in restaurants and coffee shops. I had to dodge a lot of female beggars and their handlers to get out of the area this Sheraton was in. As a woman traveling alone I didn't spend any evenings out past 7 because I didn't want to have to walk past the porn stores and the dodgy characters at night in this area just to get back to my hotel. I was actually followed by a guy while passing through this district on my second night there, which totally creeped me out and put a damper on the trip.

Room Tip: Definitely the higher the better, as there are a lot of sirens and the rush hour traffic starts very...

Upon arrival to the hotel from the airport, we were greeted with the never ending sound of construction as the new railway station if being constructed directly under the hotel (No, there was no advisement from the hotel to expect the construction activity and / or noise). The first thing that greeted us (following arrival by taxi) was the fact that we were let out on the street a full 100 yards from the hotel front door (There was a closer door but it was locked and chained???) Had to go into the hotel, find the bellman to come and get our luggage (Note that waiting in the street with luggage is accompanied with -2 C temperatures and wind whipping between the buildings. After a full 10 minute wait in the cold, finally in the hotel. Even though we had booked the hotel several weeks before and arranged for a suite upgrade that was confirmed by the hotel several days before our arrival, the room wasn't ready and we were back on the street for a few hours looking for somewhere to eat (all the hotel outlets were closed) and again facing the -2C joys of winter.

When we did get into the room (yes it was a large suite on an upper floor) we discovered very quickly that the room had been furnished and decorated in 1966. Furniture was marginal, bathroom fixtures leaked (dripped for several days we were there even though we requested maintenance several times) and the room was cold. I must say on a positive note, the beds were really, really comfortable.

Room cleaning was note up to the standard of a 5 star hotel and we had to call several times each day to have towels and bathroom amenities serviced. The turn down service at night was basically a knock on the door and a hand delivery of two small chocolate bars (maid never came into the room at night). All in all not a great stay but does have one redeeming quality! One of the best in house restaurants we ate in while on our trip. Food was to die for but the service was marginal at best. Go early (restaurant is part of the bar but doesn't open until 6PM, select your own table and eat early to get the best selection. I think the kitchen only prepares a selected few meals as there was always a shortage of menu items by around 7:30 or 8:00PM

If your going to Brussels in the hear future, stay in another hotel. You will be happier.

Room Tip: Check to see if the construction if completed before you commit to a stay.

Dear Patrick R.,
Thank you for staying recently at the Sheraton Brussels hotel and for your valuable feedback. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Your comments have been brought to the attention of those concerned.
You’re right; the square in the direct neighborhood of the hotel is under construction; these outside works are a Brussels government’s initiative in order to transform the square into a greener environment, and in relation with the public transport company to improve the access to the metro station. Arrivals with car or taxi on the place are quite difficult for the moment.
In relation to your remarks concerning the room condition, we do greatly apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort caused. Note that we are in the planning phases and discussions with the owning company for a significant renovation of the hotel in the coming future. Although this will not help in relation to your past stay at our hotel, please know that we are ‘pushing’ our owning company to continue with the renovation/refresh process as soon as possible.
We are glad to read that you have appreciated the bed comfort and the food at the RestObar and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you back to the Sheraton Brussels Hotel at some point in the future after the renovations.
