“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

I booked this hotel through Priceline.com's "Name Your Own Price" system. So I didn't truly choose this hotel. After reading the Trip Advisor reviews, I was quite worried about the quality of the hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised.

We had a flight that arrived early so we arrived at the hotel at around 11 am, well ahead of the check-in time. I thought we would leave our bags at the front desk and just walk around a bit and grab some lunch. To my surprise, they put us in a room right away (this may have been because I called Sheraton's 1-800 number a day or two before our flight to inform them that we would be arriving early, but I didn't talk to the Brussels hotel directly. The 1-800 rep sent them a message. I was supposed to get an email or call from the Brussels hotel, but never did---this is the only service-related complaint that I had. Sheraton needs to work this out).

We were in a room with a king-size bed. The room was very spacious with a love-seat sofa, a small coffee table, desk, closet, fridge (with some booze and drinks---all overpriced like any American-style hotel), and TV that had 2 or 3 English-speaking channels. The king bed was very comfortable.

Yes, the hotel decor seems outdated, but I think that is greatly over-emphasized in the other reviews. All it needs is some re-decorating, not a complete rehab project. Most importantly, everything was very clean and worked well. The bathroom was very clean and had great water pressure (this is always important to me). The room was initially chilly, but when I turned up the thermostat that little problem was solved.

The staff was professional and courteous.

It is an American style hotel, so expect to pay for any little extras like internet access in the rooms and any drinks taken from the fridge. Yes, that's annoying but that's what an American hotel is like so I'm not surprised that a Sheraton in Brussels would do the same thing. If you want free WiFi in the room, probably best to book a different hotel (though this Sheraton does have free WiFi in the lobby which can be accessed in the lobby with your name and room number).

The location was great for us because it was a few blocks from the Brussels Nord train station which we used to arrive from the airport, make a day-trip to Ghent, and depart for Bruges. It is about a 20-minute walk from the Grand Place but the subway is right on the corner. However, it is only a couple of blocks from the prostitution area but I never felt unsafe walking around there---probably because I live in Chicago where you always have to be alert.

Thank you Chicago traveler for the overall positive review and for your vote of confidence! Indeed we are sometimes 'perplexed' by some other reviews, but we know you just can't please everyone - even if our team is extremely focused on doing our very best to ensure the satisfaction of all our guests from around the world. We appreciate your honest opinion, and certainly do hope to have you back again soon in our hotel.

Spent one week at hotel. This is third time i have stayed due to location and cost. Rooms are tired, dark and in dire need of an upgrade. Service is not the best. Dont expect any help from concierge for bags or the door. At breakfast asked for toast and was told to make it myself!!

If i had a choice would do something different. Not the best.

the rooms are in need of renovation. bathroom fixtures outdated, and grungy. furniture in hotel rooms tired and needs an upgrade. and the food in the hotel is unacceptable. i had Sunday brunch, and the food was horrible: dried out in the warmers, burnt, and looked like it was just opened from a can. i was told there were no waffles, but i think the worker was lazy and just didn't want to make any. and their wifi system is substandard, not available in certain parts of the hotel, even if you wanted to pay for it. i also had a banquet dinner there and the chicken was pre-cooked, they were obviously not equipped to serve a banquet. overall, they could use improvement in their dining staff and kitchen. definitely, not Sheraton quality.

For your information, we are continuing to work with our owning company on the renovation plans for our guestrooms to start in the (hopefully not-too-distant) future.

Everything operationally went smooth in the hotel. All staff seemed to be well managed and knowledgeable. In general it was a diverse hotel, with a business focus.

Big minus point was the parking, which was very expensive! Hotel did not have own parking facilities. In terms of public transport train station was very close.

been here several times for business reasons; they do appreciate returning customers.
service is professional, food is good.
the hotel manages to handle large numbers or customers checking and an checking out simultaneously.
good location for reaching the airport or train station.
hotel parking also available, but ask for directions, as it's not so intuitive.

Booked a room in this hotel after having to leave a different hotel after terrible service. The Sheraton provided a great location and comfort at a fair price. Also on the weekends breakfast runs until 1430 which is great if you want to sleep in. The Sheraton is located directly across the street from a a taxi stand and only about a 10-15min walk from The Grand Place.

The Sheraton is a 4* and deservedly so. Good size rooms, and if you get one of the higher floors on the south side, great views of the city. The north side faces some tall office buildings.
Good things: room had two large comfortable double beds, large clean rooms, good breakfast and professional staff.
Bad things: cannot believe they charge for wifi. It is free in reception and free for two 30 mins slots in your room (be sure to turn off wifi after usage of 1st 30 mins so you don't use up 2nd slot!) but given the price of rooms, wifi should be included. I think it was €15 per 24 hours. The in-room entertainment is also very expensive, charging €15 for movies (even for Airplane!!). The sound quality on the TVs is very poor, so it wasn't worth it.

The hotel is 5 mins walk from Gard du Nord, where the train from the airport stops. The metro stop Rogier is just outside the hotel and Grand Place is about 15 mins walk away.

Room Tip: Rooms facing south have a better view, especially from floors of say about 15 up. I recommend a high...
