Great way to see the old town and get some photos? You also get to see all the bridges and make it out as far as the end of the river.

“River trip”

We bought a Yellow bus ticket and had a free boat ride and it was great. The ride lasted about 40 mins and we went through most of the bridges. You get a good view of the port houses so you can plan which one to first.

“great view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

After a long and tiring walk in the city, to sit and have a beer at the sunset is relaxing.. There are many restaurants and cafes along the river you can rest. After all, i recommend you to take the funicular near and walk above the brigde, enjoy the city lights.

“Lovely river but not always lovely patrons. Beware of aggressive beggars.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013 via mobile

It is a lovely river to stroll along and cross using the pedestrian bridge but there are many beggars who won't hesitate to follow you and ask angrily 'don't you understand hungry!?'.

It depends on your philosophy of whether to give to beggars or not but the tactics are particularly aggressive I think, compared to others around the world.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

The UNESCO site is stunning. The visit we made to a port lodge was OK, but it's far nicer just to sit outside Sandemans and enjoy a glass or two of vinho verde with a Prego no Pao (steak sandwich).
