My friend and i found the restaurant Shis only by chance during a walk along the beach, but we were immediately falling in love with it.
It is situated just in front of Castelo S. Joao da Foz beneath the waterfront promenade and offers a gorgeous view onto the sea, the lighthouse and the setting sun.
The food is based on the Fusion-Cuisine concept, which combines food of different cultures and origins. So, for example, they offer great sushi, some local dishes, as well as culinary classics like the chateaubriand. The prices are reasonable (~21€ for the mains).
The staff members were friendly, fast and motivated, and made us feel at home.
In fact, service in the Shis was the only decent we were experiencing in all Porto, in many other restaurants, staff members were either grumpy, rude or just disinterested...
However, if you like to enjoy an evening in this restaurant, you shall make a reservation, as it is very popular. The evening we found it, we were told there was no more table free and we should try next time. The next day around noon, when we told our concierge to reserve a table for the night, we got the last table only by great fortune. We were told, depending on the season, reservations should be made 1 to 3 days in advance.
