“Excellent base for city break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We stayed here with our toddler for two nights and had a wonderful time - we extended for another night since we liked the city and hotel so much! The room was very quiet, clean and large enough even with an additional cot. Service was very friendly and helpful and good English was spoken by reception staff. The locked car park (book in advance) is well worth it as street parking can be a bit tricky here. The hotel is situated just outside the center (10 mins walk) in the gallery district. It's close to Crystal Palace Park, which is fairly large, nice with kids and has some good views. There are some good restaurants nearby so you don't always have to go into the center to eat. Last but not least: the breakfast buffet is very tasty and plentiful. All in all, very recommendable and depending on the days that you book also good value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new building towards the back are very quiet.

I chose this hotel because the price seemed rather reasonable. The room is OK.
But location is not good for traveler. The hotel is away from city center. It is located back from the street. It is not easy to use public transportation by either metro or bus. So I always had to use taxi. Eventually, total cost that I paid to stay rose.
In addition, I was allocated a room at the very corner. My all devices including ipad, laptop, and even iphone could not connect the wifi network. I asked the staff to help me connect wifi network. But he said just sorry, and did not anything. It was really pity that I could not check email that night.

We got a room for two adults, two kids..a regular bed and a sofabed, not a suite. The bill was $362. Certainly not worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful, the room ok, but for this kind of money in Porto, I would have expected so much more. After traveling to the Parador in Baiona Spain and spending 155 euros for a luxurious room overlooking the ocean, this was a huge disappointment. Even at half the price.

I went back to Porto after 2 years and used this hotel as a base for touring the city and the region surrounding, introducing it to my partner. I had a car and the hotel parking facilities were a plus. Outside, the neighbourhood is hold and a bit decaying but inside the hotel was a surprise, good decoration and a nice modern and cosy feeling into it. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable.
The staff was welcoming and very helpful with everything.

Despite the car, we decided to walk, and the place is close to the area of ribeira (and the river), and 10 minutes from Boavista so a very central location. Only Serralves is quite far but we still ventured on foot (around 3 km) despite the 35-40C (95-104F) temperatures.

Was a pleasant stay overall.

Eurostars das Artes gave us everything we needed in Porto at a reasonable price. Central Porto is a city of old buildings, many looking abandoned, many being repaired. Located in a neighborhood a bit away (10-15 min. walk) from the main tourist areas, a bit farther to the river, the hotel is in a building that has been nicely renovated with touches of elegance. Our ground floor room was very comfortable and quiet with modern decor. The hotel has a lobby bar and a pleasant garden deck. Wifi worked fine.

Staff was very professional and helpful when asked for advice. Breakfast was fine with an array of several hot as well as cold choices. My only (minor) disappointment was there was no cut up fresh fruit, just whole pieces.

Exiting the hotel to the left there is a corner coffee shop and turning the corner to the left there is a minimart and a couple blocks farther a laundry where they will wash and dry clothes for 3.50 Euros/kilo (drop off in am and pick up next day).

Our sightseeing involved lots of hot walking, up and down narrow streets and staircases, so it was nice to come "home" to a quiet, peaceful room.

Very pleasant hotel. Very clean room, nicely appointed and comfortable. Residents' bar small but serves the purpose adequately. Breakfast not taken so I can't comment on the food. Location is not particularly central - it takes ten or fifteen minutes to walk to the city hall - slightly longer to the riverfront bars and cafes. Streets around the hotel very quiet and deserted after dark - I felt more comfortable getting a taxi back there late at night.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

This is a charming boutique hotel within walking distance of all the major sites.
It is located in a safe residential area. We were able to walk to the sites and return via cab ( 6 euros) or metro (about ten min walk away). It is quite hilly so walking uphill in 35 heat was not possible.
The rooms are small but very clean and modern.
We did not have breakfast at the hotel but found great options within walking distance.
I enjoy quite and tranquility and this hotel offers that by being away from the hustle and bustle of other tourist areas- would stay again.
