“First Class hotel in everyway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

My wife and I stayed on a tour for three excellent nights, I designed buildings for 45 plus years and the Sheraton Porto design is up there at the top, quietly stunning.
Despite its modern appearance it was very comfortable and quiet also all the staff were a credit to Sheraton.
The food both at breakfast and at evening meals was not only plentiful but was varied and tasty.
The only slight downside was how far out of the centre of Porto but this can be overcome by public transport or reasonably priced taxis.
All in all a very pleasant stay and certainly 6 star value.

Ok I stayed at the Sheraton for a couple of nights on a business trip. Firstly the hotel is very nice light and spacious but it is not in central Porto so be aware of that. I stayed in a club room so was lucky as I had free access to the Spa which is very good and also the club lounge which was well worth it.

Overall I was impressed a couple of issues with the Wifi while i was there just could not access in the room which was dissappointing but they said they were changing providers so a few teething issues. that may be the case but not that apologetic also the mini bar fridge not working and lacklustre reply from reception although did not bother me due to club access. However if i had not had the club room would have annoyed me as no way of chilling a drink. Breakfast very good as you would expect.

Bar is expensive but then in the hotel restaraunt could get a botle of wine for €15 so felt that was a bit strange had a meal in the restaraunt and it was very good.

Room was great very clean and tidy good bathroom. Taxis in Porto are cheap and good value but take cash rare to find one to accept a CC prices can vary thoughtrip to hotel from airport €25 with tip retunr from centre of Porto to hotel to pick up bags then Airport €26 with tip so seems a bit strange but thats life

Overall happy with the Sheraton just a bit out of main centre but cab was about € 9 so did not break the bank.

Room Tip: If you can afford the club room go for it as you can really beneift from the free drinks limited yes...

As mentioned in most reviews, this is a high quality hotel, up to the standards of newer Sheratons across the world. Accordingly, the rooms (and bathrooms) are large and well furnished with a great bed. The staff were extremely efficient, with near perfect English contrary to earlier reviews. The breakfast was good, with a wide variety, although probably a touch expensive if not included in the room rate. The location does exclude it from 5/5, but it really isn't too much of a struggle to get the tram in to the central area after a short walk.
nb If you are catching the tram from the airport, alight at Francos. You then exit the station front right, and then go straight ahead, crossing a few roads. The website was hard to follow for this, and it really is a cheap and quick method of reaching the hotel.

Room Tip: higher the floor the better

A very well run luxurious hotel, with a modern design. Well-furnished room. Friendly & professional staff. Excellent breakfast selection. Bar Drinks very expensive and Wi-Fi extra, although I passed comment on check-out and the guy removed the charge and said the Wi-Fi policy is under review. Location is quite some way from city centre, no restaurants in the vicinity.

We were thrilled that the Sheraton Porto Hotel was so lovely! We really didn't know what to expect as we drove into Porto, but were delighted to be staying at this hotel. The hotel staff immediately made us feel welcome and were patient in explaining the city sights and the best way to get there. Our room was a lovely, modern space with a glass framed bathroom. The shower was great! We asked for a bucket of ice and they brought up the most gigantic bucket of ice we have ever seen. They also delivered a bottle of wine to our room as a welcoming gift. In the morning, we had breakfast in their restaurant. We didn't want the giant buffet (which looked amazing) and they were willing to accommodate our request for an a la carte breakfast. The manager even added grilled mushrooms as a side to our omelet and brought over two traditional Portuguese pastries for us to try! It was truly a pleasure to be at the Sheraton and I would highly recommend it to any visitor to Porto.

Room Tip: Free wifi in the lobby areas only.

I have stayed here numerous times over the past few years on business and have noticed a definite decline in the standard of the place. The rooms, especially the carpets and curtains, are now looking a little tired, and everywhere generally is starting to show it's age. I was staying there on a 3 day business trip, and there was no wifi on the first 2 days, which was a total disaster. The staff offered no real apology; the attitude was that the situation was 'tough'. Also the hair dryer in my room didn't work - on the first morning, after washing my hair and discovering that the dryer didn't work, I called down to the desk to ask them to bring me a new one. I explained that I had to be out of room for a meeting 30 minutes late. I waited for 30 mins, no hair dryer was brought to my room, and I had to go to my meeting with wet hair. I will be looking for a new place to base myself in Porto for my next trip.

Stayed here with my boyfriend, and it was really lovely. Room was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom - although no locks on the shower/ toilet/ bathroom doors, which we found a bit odd.
Spa facilities are very good, definitely worth the 10 euros.
Breakfast wasn't included, but also worth paying for; a large and varied buffet including continental and English breakfasts.
Location isn't bad, between the city and the beach. Both are about 6 euros for taxi, and it's a nice location for a relaxing evening away from the busy city.
Would have liked a kettle and tea/coffee facilities in the room, especially as they'd charge extra for room service of these.
Overall I would recommend, especially for couples.
