“Good quality hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

A large comfortable room on the 11th floor. Lifts were sometimes erratic but mostly worked well and quickly. Breakfast was good with a very wide buffet selection. Helpful staff.

A fair way from the centre of Porto - but taxis are cheap and it is a short walk downhill to the banks of the Douro and the local tram service.

Book the airport shuttle to transfer from the airport to the hotel - just €6 each way.

The hotel was a nice 4 star rate accommodation. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was top quality. It was too cold to go swimming and a sauna would have been a nice touch. The staff were very helpful. We didn't feel that we were in a large busy hotel.

The biggest problem of this hotel is the services:
wi-fi do not work properly
Lobby bar open just at 10:30 (forghet to have a coffee in the lobby before - if you have to arrange a metting better to chouse another location)
Breackfast just from 7:30 am: if you have aerly fly, you will have the breackfast at the ariport
Reatauran: have a menu that can be good for a snak bar, not for a 5 star hotel,
Lobby: they do not have any idea about the service that a 5 star hotel guest expect
Room: are not soundproof

Reasonably priced hotel slightly out of the city center but about a 6 euro cab ride in which isn't too bad. Rooms are of a standard size with standard amenities but it should be noted there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room but could be arranged for an extra 5 euro! This is a joke give I paid extra for an executive room I would have thought this to be standard. The hotel itself is perched nicely on a hill with some views of the ocean. The dining options are fairly limited with a lobby bar or a mediocre buffet restaurant primarily focused on the hoards of tour groups that stay here, the breakfast was really a poor affair especially the juice which was just concentrate. The pool is nice if a bit cold but located on the roof with a great view of the surroundings. I would stay here again only if the price was right otherwise i'd recommend something closer to the city and with a bit more personality as this hotel really lacked any culture or personal charm it was very sterile.

Have stayed twice on business trips, and have found this to be a very satisfactory hotel on both occasions. Though not centrally located, it is within easy reach of the center of Porto. The staff are all friendly and professional, and the facilities were good. The rooms were clean and comfortable; wifi was excellent. Breakfast was ample and good. And the price is very reasonable.

Good hotel for sightseeing in Porto. The hotel is located just outside the ring round around the city. A little difficult to find so you should have detailed directions before setting out.

At 11 Euros a day the parking was reasonable. The garage was not as difficult to enter as some reviews claim. And the garage was easy to navigate once you got in.

The hotel is located quite a distance from the center. Not a short walk. You should take a bus or a taxi. Since we had in and out privileges with parking we drove closer to the center and parked for free on the street and walked in from there which worked out fine.

And if you're driving out of the city during the day to sightsee the location is excellent.

The hotel was probably quite the place when it opened but now is a little dated and primarily a hotel for business travelers and bus groups which is not necessarily bad. Free wifi in the lobby and room which worked well.

The rooms were comfortable, quiet and had great bathrooms. Two sinks, nice shower, etc.

The pool is nice on the roof with a great view but turns into a party scene at night (we were there on a weekend).

And the gym has decent equipment but bring your booklight if you want to read on the machine since the rooms is dimly lit.

The breakfast was excellent. Great selection, fresh fruit, hot dishes, pastries, etc.

And the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Again, if you're driving be sure you have good directions in advance

We stayed on the top floor with direct access to the pool, however it was a bit cold and windy at the time of visit (Spring). Rooms were nice and clean, good facilities and it had everything we expected.

The service was a little bit slow but not overly bad. The hotel was located about 20-25 minutes walk from the closest tram station, but otherwise was quite good.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A five star hotel for demanding clients.A hotel that connects comfort, a great service, sympathy and quality to a smart choice!Having been for a long time a reference among the hotels of Oporto, the HF Ipanema Park has reinforced its arguments thanks to a recent remodelling process, which has turned it into an extraordinary example of environmental efficiency that is positively reflected in the comfort of its guests.Sophistication is a common aspect between the atmosphere of the rooms and social areas, with an emphasis on the panoramic Top of the Roof bar with a pool and a unique view over the mouth of the River Douro, and the free Wi-Fi Internet available throughout the entire hotel. In such a welcoming and comfortable hotel, only its proximity to the most sophisticated and charming area of the city will convince you to go out.At the Jardim d'Inverno restaurant, both the Portuguese cuisine and the exotic flavours are dressed with the refinement of Chef Agostinho Teixeira. At the Coffee-Shop near the Twin Trees bar, our light meals will surprise you.At the HF Ipanema Park you always have more than you think, for less that you can imagine. ... more   less
