My husband and me have spent 6 days in Porto during May/June. During our stay we booked numerous activities, one of which was our visit to Taylor's. Despite our visit to Graham's, which was a group tour, we decided to visit Taylor's individually. For that reason, we have applied on 20th May, via their web service, for a visit on a specific day and time (31st May, 4pm). We received a greeting email with date/time confirmation for this visit. On the given date at 4pm exactly we arrived at Taylor's with taxi. And then a surprise ! At the reception desk we were informed that Taylor's does not provide any more tours that day. I tried to explain to the reception officer that our visit is announced weeks before, but the only answer I got is that they are sorry but no more tours that day. After that point, we asked for a manager. A very relaxed person presented itself as a manager. He listened us, with a boring face and not too much interest, providing us with the same apology that visits are closed for that day. My husband was very upset, showing him the email confirmation which we received from Taylor's, and finally he offered a personally guided tour - which we declined. Not because we were not entitled to have one, but because behavior of this "manager" was completely annoying, unprofessional and on the edge of being disrespectful. He did not offer any kind of curtesy in order to try to "smooth" this clear mistake - not even to order taxi to drive us back to city after failed visit to his company... nothing! I must say that despite the glamour and tradition of Taylor's house - mistakes of some employees like this bring a spot on the name of the company and it's operations!!!
PS: for Taylor's - this is not anonymous assessment. I keep email and log of this event. In case anyone asks for more detail!
