“Some history, but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2014 via mobile

The house is a beautiful building and the exposition is well mantained. On the other hand, the attractions are mostly static and based on objects from excavations and recriations (both in natural size and in model sizes) from buildings or parts like the floorings. All in all, lots of good informations but presented in a rather monotonous way.

“Fascinating place, but ...........”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Interesting and well-presented museum about the history of the house and the city. However, a guidebook would have been a nice extra - maybe not yet produced because I think the museum is fairly new, or recently acquired.

“Porto's history book”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

This museum is about Porto and its history since the Roman colonization of what was then "Portus Cale". Through diagrams, maquettes, videos and historical artefacts found in Porto, this castle-like history book teaches you about this city's people, growth and activities through time. It's an interactive and interesting way of getting to know one of the most charismatic cities of Portugal - and its free.

“Fado Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

I was going in to the museum and the woman at the door told me (I eventually figured out) that I could pay for the museum or see a fado concert "gratis." Well, that was all I needed to know, so I found my wife and we enjoyed a lovely evening of fado. Never did get to see the rest of the museum - maybe next time.

“An innovative museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

The interior of this very old house has been converted to depict the different stages of the life of the building from medieval times to date. Well worth the visit.
