This hotel is located fairly centrally close to several restaurants/cafes and the shops but is a hike up or down hill from the river as the city is built on steep hills. The public rooms of the hotel are very ornate and it is worth visiting the hotel just to see these. The bedrooms however are on the small side, room 5 which has a double bed but not much space to move is short on hanging space as one side of the wardrobe contains the safe and the other side the fridge/mini bar. Ok for a male as you could hang shirts and trousers but for a woman with dresses to hang not much good. The bathrooms are a reasonable size. The room we were in on the 2nd floor was a twin room and had more space. Breakfast, served from 7.30 to 10.30 was good when we went at around 8am but not so good when a friend went in about 9.30am as they had not replaced the hot food or the cheese and ham and the coffee machine ran out at one point and it took them a bit of time to refill it. The WIFI was free and worked well enough for reading/writing emails but I did not try downloading film or music. The staff were very helpful mostly but the bar was closed sometimes during it's stated opening hours and service when it was open was very slow which was a shame as we were part of a group of 30+ and some of us would have spent money buying drinks in the hotel if it had been open and adequately staffed. Despite the downsides I would stay at this hotel again. Taxi's in Porto were cheap as was food and drink.
