“COMFORTABLE BUDGET CENTRAL LOCATION”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

The Quality Inn is centrally situated near to the Av. Santa Caterina and The Majestic Cafe. Some building work going on in the square but surprisingly quiet considering. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast plentiful and the staff polite and well informed.
Very easy access to the city and a pleasant stroll to the Ribeira with its many bars and cafes and the Dom Luis bridge. A bit of a climb back though if one does not use the funicular. The 'hop-on hop-off' tourist buses leave right outside so well worth buying a two-day ticket.
An very easy connection with the airport too using the direct metro line to Balhao station, five minutes walk away, €1.85 each way, a bargain!

This hotel is really good, despite being in a slightly seedy part of town. It is really near all the major sites and the city sightseeing bus stops right in the square. You can get the tickets for the bus at reception.
The breakfast was really good and was included. All the staff at the hotel were excellent especially Maria Ferreira. She went through all the maps with us when we arrived and made lots of recommendations of places to go, all of which were excellent.

Room Tip: The second floor was good.

Good location for a solid hotel. Great service, but wifi is extra cost. Rooms are small, but functional. Our room overlooked the main square with a skating rink and all (terrible techno music til midnight...)

Room Tip: We had a front room, but I imagine the back facing rooms are quieter.

The hotel is close to many restaurants and bus stops. You can buy the ticket for the hop on hop off bus just in front of it in one of the newstands and start the journey right there. It is also very close to the funicular (modern wagon that goes down the hill) that takes you to the shore of the river, where there are many restaurants and bars (the view from the funicular is espectacular). The room itself has all the basics and it was always clean. Breakfast was good and the people at the front desk are very friendly.

Room Tip: I saw three rooms and they all looked the same, good enough to have a shower and a good night sleep.

Checking in was nice - the front desk folks are very nice and eager to help. We stayed here for 3 nights and all them were very helpful. Specially all the Marias! The room was small but the double bed was nice and firm after a full days walking around. There is no fridge or micro in the room and they charge for wifi but who in his right mind is willing to pay for wifi in a hotel these days? Wifi is free everywhere and near by you can walk to a coffee shop and check you email even outside as their signal is so strong. Even in our room which was on the 4th floor front, I got a coffee shop wifi with ease.
Location is excellent with nice shops and restaurants nearby. Hop on hop off bus stops right out side the hotel. The cab from the train station to the hotel costs Euro 7. The breakfast was included and was nice. Things were always replanished quickly and the workers there were efficient. Nice variety of breads, hot scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs, fruits, juice, cheese, yogurt and coffee/tea.
We would definitly stay here again and enjoy this beautiful city of Porto.

Happy with everything in this hotel but I cannot understand the need to charge for WiFi. At this stage of IT Development, hotels should not be charging for WiFi when they're already charging for providing basic facilities of "a home from home".

Very good hotel within walking distance of anywhere you will want in Porto. A number of nearby places for breakfast, which was around 2 euros a person. Rooms were medium sized and very comfortable. The hotel overlooks a busy square but noise is not a problem. It is about a 5 minute walk from the railway station and metro. Main shopping area is on the doorstep
