“Amazing Tilework.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

In these days of smart new stations it's refreshing to come across something functional yet beautiful. Amazingly detailed tiles make your visit to the station memorable and give a temporal perspective to your journey.

“Worth a look-see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Sometimes the best things in life are free and this is one of them! This old train station has great tile art. Definitely worth ducking into, won't take more than 10 minutes. Go during the day when lighting is best for taking photos.

“Visit here even if you're not using the train”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

The entrance hallway to this station is an absolute marvel, the photos do not do the tile work justice. Absolutely beautiful and easy to stand and look at for ages. Must be a bit irritating for the people using the station for its intended purpose, because there are always tourists in the entrance hallway. Go early to avoid the crowds and walking tours.

“Azulejos art in the train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Inside the Rail Station Sao Bento the traveler may be surprised to see large parts of the walls made up of azulejos (tiles). Pastoral scenes are the main theme. A delight!

“blue painted tiles everywhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Railway station looks like a museum. A perfect photo opportunity of beautiful azulejos for free. Walls are covered with tiles from ground to ceiling telling you stories of Portugal's history.
