“Offseason Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We visited in Febuary and the discount was tremendous. The front desk is helpful and the location
close to all the sites we were looking for. There is parking next door and arriving is almost too
easy. OK, the rooms are dated but at the price we received easily overlooked. Porto is a bit
up and down so be prepared to walk from here. There is good dining in Porto but we opted
for the 17e and we were not disappointed. The staff upstairs are great, the decor elegant,
the view at night a knockout and the food delicious. All this with wine for 83E.

Very helpful staff. Good location. Great value for money, although we did get a good deal as it was February. The real draw however is the view from the bar restaurant on the 17th floor. From here you can see the whole city. As well as amazing views the service and food from the restaurant is also fantastic.

I found this hotel to be an excellent value, and it met all of my needs during my recent trip. I had stayed here once before, and returned because of the location (near Bolhao, good Metro access, nothing feels very far away), and the excellent service. We walked all over the place from this hotel. When the rain got to be too much (we visited in January) we took the Metro to Trindade, and popped out the back exit of the Metro station (the one closest to the hotel) and dashed the short distance to the hotel. The first night, after arriving on an overnight flight from Paris and then traveling to Porto in the afternoon, we were beat and ate upstairs in the restaurant. I am not one to eat at hotel restos, but it was great. The polvo (octopus) was fantastic! DO NOT miss the view of Porto from the bar!! The staff are great and will try to answer any question you have. The room was clean and large and ours had a balcony, which was nice to over look the city, even in the winter. Yes, it is not the most updated hotel, but whatever. The breakfast is more than sufficient, with enough variety (we stayed four nights and I never got tired of it). All in all, I really like this hotel! We did not have a car - I can't comment on parking etc.

The Dom Henrique is a friendly, but unremarkable place. The only highlights are the lovely roof top bar and restaurant, with a magnificent view over Porto and far beyond.

If you get a favourable rate, and succeed in getting a good room on one of the top floors, this might not be a bad choice for a short stay in Porto.

Entering the hotel give an immediate sad feeling. The outside feels old and the area is not so nice. Nevertheless it is located perfect to visit the city center. That is a plus. Everything in the hotel needs a refurbishment. Rooms are quite small and mine had a very small window. Room was also not that clean but proably due to age. I visited in January so the price was quite acceptable and the parking next door can be used for.

The breakfast is the same. It could do with an update. The bear minimum and the sausages, eggs and bacon looked like "DO NOT TOUCH ME" with pearl of grease places on a sandwich to absorb the fat. No toaster and the coffee was crude oil.
I used the hotel for business and there it just meets the bear minim of acceptable. As a tourist I would not like the stay there as the atmosphere is not that great. The staff was friendly.

Good location. 5 min by foot from the shopping area of Bolhao. Trindade and Bolhao metro stations 5 min from the hotel, with direct link to the airport (30 min). Bus stop in front of the hotel (line 502 to Matosinhos and the beaches). A 4-zone "Andante" metro/bus card (valid for the airport) cost EUR6.20 for 24h.
Room was huge, with a balcony and a great panoramic view of the city. Clean. Beds OK. Good buffet breakfast with a decent choice.

Well located near to Trindade station - less than 5 mins walk. About 15mins walk to Sao Bento and 20mins to the Port harbour. There is a bus stop just outside for those who cannot navigate steep ascents/descents on foot. Beware that when it rains, the beautifully mosaic pavements become very slippery. I nearly fell twice wearing hiking shoes!

A tall high rise hotel with panoramic views from the top, a restaurant/bar on the 17th floor. Can see the Clerigos tower plus other tourist destinations from it.

Rooms were clean and well maintained. Power shower and bidet a plus. Soft cotton sheets and pillow cases.

Buffet breakfast was worthwhile with a good choice of Portuguese style cakes, scrambled eggs, bacon/frankfurters and cold cuts, fruit, etc. The coffee was excellent and there was a choice of other hot beverages e.g. tea, hot chocolate, etc.

Friendly and helpful staff on reception at at breakfast. We did not go to the 17th floor bar so cannot comment on the staff there but are sure that they would have been equally as accomodating.

Room Tip: The higher up the better but ask for a room not close to the elevators otherwise you will be woken u...
