“Who is writing all the positive reviews???”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

It would be interesting to know!we went there and, besides the fact that none of the waiter could speak english (after a week inPortugal I learned to accept that...)they were a bit cold and unfriendly.First we ordered bacalhau (cod), which was way too salty, a sign that they didn't take the right time to make it properly. My girlfriend ordered quejo and, to our surprise, they brought a tiny pack of spreadable cheese...made in Holland!this can't be serious, I thought!she ordered breaded hake as main dish. When she was half way done she found tiny black pieces that looked like fish worms...she stopped immediately. That night she had bad stomach pain(started soon after she ate), I assume it was the fish.I had grilled sardines with vegetables. The fish was ok but the rest was too fatty.Forgettable experience.very disappointed after reading so many positive reviews!

“Staple Portugeuse food - better than Mama used to make!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

It's a good sign when the restaurant has 3 floors, and they opened restaurant #2 across the street.

We had the grilled sardines - a Portugeuse favorite - us, not so much as there were too many little fine bones for our taste. Too much work.

Otherwise, the Portugeuse BBQ chicken, the veal, grilled octopus, was excellent! The tripe was, well, tripe, but the white beans it came in was delicious. Accompaniments were above average.

This was a delicious, hearty meal, that seemed to be real staples of dining in Portugal. Nothing too fancy, but really good food.

And both restaurants were packed.

“A true local delight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

The name says it all: go here to experience barbecue chicken in diner-style restaurant. It is very popular with locals, so you may be required to wait for a seat - however there is additional seating upstairs spread over two floors.

The chicken is available in two varieties (regular and picante - spicy) although picante is not excessively hot. Either is served with fries and a basic salad but the chicken is the intended star of the show.

Come here to indulge in people-watching; the ground floor bar certainly gives a great opportunity to do so.

“Great Rotisserie Piri Piri Chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

First we should say we had piri piri chicken in Porto, Lisbon and Albufeira at 6 different places. This was the best and most authentic. We arrived to a small line up and decided to wait and try to sit at the counter. We waited 20 minutes and watched not less than a person for each waiting minute getting takeout. The racks of chicken being hand turned on the spit looked amazing. Plump postcard picture perfect birds. We each had a 1/2 chicken with crispy fries, salad and a several jugs of house red. Dessert (chocolate and cheesecake) ended this meal with some very good 10 yr old Port - all at bargain basement prices. We really liked being at the counter, with all the local men eating and joking with the guys behind the counter. In our 3 weeks in Portugal we rate this in our top 3 places we dined: great atmosphere, faultless succulent roasted chicken, super nice staff and a lot of local characters that joked even with us - made for a most enjoyable time. If you can eat at the bar and watch the food prep and action.

“not chi-chi but great all the same”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Great. Inexpensive. Typical galinha restaurant you'll find in Portugal or Brazil. Healthy portions, good sauce on the side. They've been doing this a long time and are very good at it.
