“The best low budget place to stay in porto!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

I really really loved this place (really). The dorms are comfortable and clean. There is a nice living room and a complete kitchen and a sweet garden where you could stay up talking all night if you want to. There is a 24 hour service at the reception and the people are very nice. In conclusion: I would certainly recommend this hostel!

This hostel is just good! And that is perfect for the price! Good clean rooms, average beds, typical hostel breakfast, quite central location, I really liked the short walk to the center. Good showers, nice common areas. The hostel lacked a bit of energy, but that is also dependable on the guests ofcourse. If youre looking for a party hostel stay away, if your looking for a nice and quiet atmosphere, this is better appreciated.

The hostel staff is great! Friendly, good in English, and we had a lot of questions, and I mean a lot, and they helped us perfectly! They helped us with booking tours, advicing on restaurants etc.

Me and my boyfriend went to the Magnolia Porto Hostel in april this year because we wanted to see the two biggest cities in Portugal and after Lisboa we came to this beautiful city.
Friends of us have been in this hostel last year and so we choose it for our citytrip to Portugal.
The guys who are running this hostel were very buissy when we arrived and so we waited half an our befor we went to our room.
The hostel itself is nice with a cool garden with sunbeds.
The hostel has everything you need started with small kitchen, tv-room, clean bathrooms with not sooo clean showers and Internetcomputers inc. WiFi.
The guests were not so nice and very noisy in the nighttime but the staff tried there best to bring them down.
In the end it was a nice stay in this hostel with the big red frontdoor.
Maybe see you next year again !?

Room Tip: choose a room away from the main street!

it's not a bad place to stay, the bathroom could do with a cleaning and it might not be a bad idea if they buy new showers and taps but overall it's ok. the lady who cleans the rooms is really cute and friendly and despite that you might not speak a word of portuguese she keeps talking to you as if she knows you for ever, really nice woman :D the reception staff is also friendly and nice; it might be a bit noisy if you stay in a dorm or a room on the side of the street so make sure youve got earplugs, overall: yes, i would recommend :)

Room Tip: Make sure you've got earplugs or you might not be able to sleep if you sleep light.

We really enjoyed staying here with my brother, we met really cool people and you can socialize in the common room and the small garden where the breakfast is served.
Actually it is a self-service breakfast including ham, cheese, toast, etc. but it was great for us to start a day!
It's not a party hostel, but still it depends on your room mates how noisy can it get. Luckily we are heavy sleepers and we didn't have any problem with the noise.
To sum up, we enjoyed our stay there! but still probably we would choose somewhere close to beach next time :)

Me and my friends went to this Hostel this year because we found this house with many good reviews at tripadvisor and hostelworld.
The hostel is five up to ten minutes away from the old town of Porto and the biggest shoppingstreet of the city.
It is also situated at a main street with really not less noises.
The Hostel itself is nice with a integrated coffee and not to fail because of a big red door.
We booked dormbeds who were really good for sleeping and the room had also a very, very small balcony who is not really one but don't worry, it has a nice garden in the back.
The showers are cleal and practicable and the loo, too.
The rest of the hostel was not really clean and the roommates were not innecent in this case.
The price was good for Portugal and the breakfast was also included.
One of the highlights was the guided citywalk with Iris-just wunderfull and I don't talk only about the citywalk because Iris was a real sweetheart, too.
So, this is what I have to say about the Magnolia Porto Hostel.
Much fun and hopefully a few good advises for you readers!!!

I came around on my trip from Lisboa to Santjago de compostella and I found this nice Hostel in the beautiful city of Porto.
I arrived by train and to find the way from the trainstation to the hostel was a small chalange but I did it.
The hostel is around 3 kilometers away from the trainstation campanea.
The Magnolia hostel is situated at a main street in Porto but in the night there is not so much traffic there and so you don't have any problems to sleep there in the nighttime.
You can find everything you need in this hostel including a bondi coffee what is very known in Portugal.
Bondi coffees are everywhere in Portugal but this was my first one in a hostel.
Inside the hostel you find Internetcomputers, a guestkitchen, Tv and proper showers.
The breakfast was also god and the beer the cheapest I ever bought in a hostel.
OK, the room could be cleaner but it was really ok.
The staff was helpful and friendly to support me the best way.
The beds were not in best conditions anymore and I think, you can buy them in the Ikea Shop.
The garden in the back was fantastic and I liked it very much to hang around totaly lazy there.
So you should come there and decide for your own, do you like it or not.
I enjoyed my stay there

ps:the balconys are supersmall and to the main street so it's better to go to the garden in the back.
