“Awesome baked octopus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Best food I had in Portugal for a very reasonable price. Went there with my whole family, tried the octopus in its two versions baked and fried, also the pork. Everything was excellent but the baked octopus my favorite. Service is really nice and friendly. Recommended

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

We were in Porto for 3 nights and went here 2 times. The service was good but a little slow. The best thing on the menu was the grilled shrimp. We had the sea bass one night but it was not quite as fresh. Our hotel (Guest House Duoro) is about 150 yards from A Grade. They arranged reservations (recommended) for us and were happy they did with waits over 1 hour.

“very good mom & pop restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We enjoyed our dinner at this cozy little family-run restaurant near the river front. We thought the two soups of the day were delicious. I tried grilled shrimp and my husband had the grilled sea bass, followed by the lime tart (highly recommended) and a flan. Everything was very good. Service was very friendly and attentive. We were seated at a table for four and were joined by a super friendly and talkative couple from Italy. The wife was undeterred by the fact that we didn't share a common language and proceeded to 'tell' us what they did in Porto and wanted to hear about what we did. It was very funny. Thank goodness for guidebooks, Google translate, and maps! Reservations are a must.

“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

We went to the restaurant encouraged by a number of good reviews and ended up slightly dissapointed because the place doesn't excel in anything. The service was good and attentive and the food was OK, but not special at all. I've eaten in local restaurants in Portugal that doesn't have certificate of excellency or probably are even not mentioned in TripAdvisor and the food was similar and equally good as in A Grade but cheaper. In Portugal you don't need to pay more than 20 euros per person to try typical Portuguese cod and have a decent dinner. And if you plan to spend 30€ per person you choose slightly more elegant place with more refined cuisine. That's probably why in A Grade you're very unlikely to see Portuguese people, instead it's loaded up with foreigners who probably have no idea that Porto offers similar food at cheaper prices.

“Exceeded expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Top meal and it's reputation now means you must book or you will be either turned away or join the queue of hopefuls. A short walk from the waterfront, A Grade is tucked away in a steep cobblestone street with inside and outside dining. Authentic quality food with friendly service.
