“Very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Very nice staff, very nice rooms with good beds. The prices vs the quality are very good. The only things that could be better are the bar and the kitchen which is not that good. The hotel is located in Maia and you must take a taxi of train to get to Porto. If this is not a problem then book this hotel!

recently spent three nights here on business, the hotel is out of town on a quiet road. there are a couple of cafes and bars about 220 yards away that are cheap and well worth going to.
the rooms all have balconcies some over look the road as mine did and some have lovely views looking over to porto. bathrooms are nice to but beware of the shower head! the water comes out fast and i sprayed the bathroom as the head fell off saturating the towels. nice quiet room with big comfortable bed. had a safe in the room which was helpful. breakfast was ok and had a variety of fruit, cereals and bread. the only complaint was the cooked part was not very good and the toaster was slow. the bar is small but there is a nice outside space, the staff were polite and spoke good english. the conference facilities were good. there were some coach parties but this was not a problem. it is a bit far out of porto and it cost between 12 and 15 euros one way. this hotel is ideal for passing through but adds to cost of holiday if you wanted to stay here. good value for money

Room Tip: ask for room overlooking porto

Hotel position is in a quiet and convenient location a bit away from the centre. We saw that it is used quit a lot by bus tour groups. Standard is what is expected from a 4 star Hotel. The "Spa" is a bit of a joke - a tiny swimming pool and a sauna, Hammam is all that is there, and it seems it is hardly used by anybody really.
Breakfast is plenty and choice is good - but taste is rather average. Service in the Breakfast area is mediocre, coffee was often close to be empty and staff can occasionally be a bit unfriendly or negligent. We had one incident that was upsetting but not worth mentioning here.
Overall it is a reasonable Hotel but small things are not working very well yet and that makes me decide only for an average rating.

Room Tip: It's called SPA but there is nothing alike around that deserves the name SPA. It's more like...

The staff very friendly, the rooms clean.
Breakfast also had good amount of choices
The look/style of the hotel is between classic & design
In general, very satisfyed. Ratio value for cost very good.
The only thing is the location, which is not in city center. On the other hand is 10min from airport.

Not near to any shopping and restaurant. But hotel is comfortable. The front desk manager is unfriendly unlike in Spain.

Breakfast spread is one of the worst in Portugal. We were made to wait for our breakfast although they have been informed we need to depart early for our group tour of 41 people.

We stayed for two nights the room was comfortable lovely big bed . Only had one evening meal in the hotel which was a buffet, the breakfasts were ok but no fried eggs! The hotel was a bit far from the town so you would need to use a cab to get into the centre of town. There was a small supermarket nearby and a couple of bars that you can walk to. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Axis Hotel for two nights in October and had a most enjoyable stay. Our Room was spacious, well appointed and clean with excellent Bath and separate shower. The menu for the Evening Meal was comprehensive with the food nicely cooked and presented by well trained serving staff. Breakfasts too were very comprehensive with English style competeing with both Light Continental and Northen European cold meats and cheeses althogether very impressive. However we did not make use of the spa or turkish bath.
