We stayed at the Posada de São Bartolomeu on our wedding anniversary. It couldn't have been a better choice. Wonderfully large room, great, sparkling facilities, and a magnificent view across the valley at the remarkably intact Bragança citadel and over the town itself. Bragança is worth a visit, with good restaurants and good value everywhere. But it's the medieval village within the citidel that is especially interesting. Later, sit on your balcony in posada-provided robes and watch the reflected sunset over the citadel. It's magic! Breakfast is a great feast. Fill your plates with all the fruits and breads you want as you look out over the citadel and the town again on a new morning. We'll definitely be back. A tip: Look at the the Portuguese posadas Web site (---) to find good deals for those over 65.
